Apparently, the Venezuelans are still trying to find their president, in a “Where’s Waldo?” sorta way…& demanding proof of life from the Trumpian gov’t.

Not really. What changed that drastically?
Well, perhaps a relatively short amount of time will tell, & Canada can be the 54th or whatever state, or a colony, or a protectorate, etc…and today is not yesterday.

You seriously don’t feel like a sea change just happened? A precedent for other powers to follow? Good thing we’re (I’m using the term loosely) renegotiating USMCACUSMANAFTA soon so Mexico and Canada can see where they stand, in the umbrella of the Donroe Doctrine that’s now passed the lip service phase.

The term "Donroe Doctrine" is a colloquialism—likely coined by media outlets such as the New York Post and CBC in late 2024 and early 2025—referring to the aggressive, "America First" foreign policy approach of the second Donald Trump administration. This policy aims to reassert American dominance in the Western Hemisphere, specifically targeting trade, energy, and security policy toward Canada and Latin America.

Yesterday there was no legal mechanism or formal plan for America to invade Venezuela. Today there is no legal mechanism or formal plan with respect to Canada, or Mexico, etc…

At least it didn't go down like Iraq.

Is the country and what remains of its leaders ready to roll over and let America come in and…take over the country? Nationalize its oil industry for America’s consumption? Become another Nigeria but for America/Chevron instead of Shell?

Is it over? Has Venezuela capitulated or just its president and First Lady removed?

If Trump (for America I guess) is going to run Venezuela for the foreseeable future until he decides it’s ready for some kind of transition to something or another, after he just bombed the place, and he’s gonna have American oil companies roll in with big investments (that they sure didn’t seem interested in six weeks ago)…

…how is he going to police this? I mean without having “boots on the ground” like Iraq to enforce his will?

Then who decides when Venezuela is ready to transition to whatever whenever? Trump? When Venezuela decides it has a leader in place of Maduro? US President Donald Trump on Saturday brushed aside Nobel Peace Prize-winning opposition leader Maria Corina Machado as a potential interim leader of Venezuela, as he said Washington was “working with” deposed Nicolas Maduro's vice president.

(Hours after an audacious U.S. military operation that plucked Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro from power and removed him from the country Saturday, his vice-president demanded Maduro's release and called him the country's rightful leader)
"I think it would be very tough for her (Machado) to be the leader. She doesn't have the support within or the respect within the country," Trump told a news conference.

"She's a very nice woman, but she doesn't have the respect." Guess she shouldn’t have won that Nobel peace prize that Trump hasn’t gotten but covets.

Just finished talking with my neighbour who is from Venezuela , he is ecstatic about the dictator has been removed . He says eight million people have left the country in recent years and they welcome American intervention .

That’s one. Maduro is a world class turd. I’m sure not saying otherwise, but who elected Trump to enforce his will over Venezuela and its oil reserves narco-terrorism? James Monroe in 1823?

It used to be Shell and BP who were deeply invested in Venezuela back in the 70s and 80s. Chevron would be a Johnny come lately.

PS...you're overlooking gold.

Not just one , even the people interviewed on CBC on the ground in Caracas were praising Trump despite the loaded questions from the interviewer . At present the only people condemning this move are Trump haters . We will see what happens but I expect the Venezuelan people will ultimately be allowed to control their own destiny . For the moment they can see a future that wasn’t available under Maduro’s jackboot .
