Trudeau says he's not against bombing ISIS

I've read the BBC transcript... while others here prefer to read headlines and accounts taken with journalistic/editor liberties... or just make shyte up. The position has been consistent; Canada will withdraw from the direct bombing in favour of alternate military contribution (which in the past has been stated to include training, surveilance, transport and refueling).
Give Boomer a break. He only reads his own headlines.

This whole debate is ludicrous! Trudeau will stop the Canadian bombing missions but will refuel others so they can continue bombing. That's what's being said here.
I think what he is doing is walking a thin line, trying to keep his promise but trying to stay in line with the allies who are increasing the bombing.
He is sitting on the fence and being non-committal on most questions that are coming at him while he is abroad. Tomorrow he meets with the Indian PM and France's Hollande. His discourse with them will be interesting indeed.

I also noticed that he said the previous government had a plan but were not clear on how it would work. He will return home and work out a plan. Why didn't he work out a plan before he made promises and before he went to this summit?
Sorry, I don't mean to be critical all the time but I just don't see any consistency in anything Trudeau says. All Canadians should be paying attention to what he says and does and forming some opinions. I would like to see more assuredness coming out of our new PM's mouth and less dithering

you're manufacturing 'dithering' for your own ends... those 6 jets are symbolic at best. Recent media accounts tallied how little contribution they have had... and they are very expensive to maintain/operate, inclusive of the hundreds of support personnel required and over there in that role. In any case, there has been consistency since day 1 in stating that Canada can contribute more effectively to a military contribution in other ways; again, training, surveillance, transport and refueling. There are many NATO member nations that have chosen not to participate directly in the bombing, chosen not to send jets.

I think you and I are the only two who actually know what Justin actually did and did not say, waldo.............what's all this flip flop nonsense. His position now is the same as it was prior to, during and after the election. The jets are coming home.

This bit is from our new Minister of Defense:

"Sajjan reiterated on Sunday that Canada is part of a coalition in the fight against ISIS, and noted that other members of the coalition are contributing resources to airstrikes.

"As tragic as those events are, the solution is not based on one tool," he said. "The solution is based on our efforts working as a coalition with all the tools together."

"We're going to be taking the fight to ISIS ... and we work as part of a team.""

Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan stands firm on Syria airstrike withdrawal decision - Nova Scotia - CBC News

I think what he has to say about our part in the the mission makes a lot of sense. Someone has to train and our troops have been doing for a long time now.

While I agree with him in his new position, it is indeed the opposite of his old position which by almost all dictionaries can be defined as a flip flop.

I shouldn't even have to explain why you are wrong.

They want to take out our planes and put boots on the ground while other nations can keep their planes in.

That's what the rationale was before the election and it didn't change, nor does it mean they can't support the idea of airstrikes in general.

Not sure why this is so difficult for conbots to understand.

Trudeau flip-flops on his promise to end ISIS bombing mission

In a surprising about-face, Justin Trudeau who is currently on his first tour of Europe following the October 19 elections, told the BBC that he is he’s not opposed to the bombing mission against the Islamic State (ISIS). Asked specifically to clarify that he is “not against bombing,” Trudeau replied: “Indeed.”

Would bombing ISIS be a good idea if it meant there was a chance of taking out some innocents citizens along with them?

If you're dumb enough to buy this flip flop rubbish then you can't be helped.
