You would have thought the Harper CONS would have 'reformed' this and other dubious clauses that hoses Canadians........

Three people will immediately and directly benefit from an early election call: Mike Duffy, Pamela Wallin and Patrick Brazeau.

The suspended senators have been without pay or benefits since November 2013, when they were booted from the Red Chamber amid allegations of fraudulent expense and living-expense claims.

But those suspensions were only for the parliamentary session, and once it ends officially when Parliament is dissolved, so too do the suspensions.

All three senators would start receiving a paycheque within weeks of the writ being drawn up. A Senate spokesperson confirmed that would happen without any paperwork or action by the senators themselves.

The three senators will start to tap into annual salaries to the tune of $142,400 each.

Senators are paid monthly and their salaries would be adjusted based on when the election is called and the parliamentary session officially dissolved.

The senators would also now have access to their living and housing budgets, and they would be allowed to start claiming per diems if they were in Ottawa or could justify they were on Senate business.

The one benefit the senators would no longer be able to access is their pensions.

"If they want to have a fight about legitimacy between us and the unelected and under investigation Senate, we welcome it," he said in an interview.

Interesting bite back. The NDP's first talking point has to do with elected vs not elected. Yet, their past actions have shown zero support for Harper's offer to appoint elected senators.

If disaster should strike and the dippers win the election any bets on how long it would take Mulcair to fill the empty Senate seats?

Anything to keep the gravy train afloat I suppose...........

The NDP wants to abolish the Upper Chamber, but if they win the Oct. 19 election, up to 30 Senators would likely be ready to them help pass legislation, says British Columbia Liberal Sen. Larry Campbell.

“One would think there should be probably 70 Senators who’d be able to do that. But if you are a realist, and I’m a realist, I know there aren’t 70,” said Sen. Campbell, who told The Hill Times that he would work with an NDP government.

“I believe there’s enough to make it function. I don’t know, 30? I’m just picking a number for you because you want a number. I have no idea.”

Any party that wants to abolish something before there is a suitable replacement should not be trusted with Canada's childcare program. Everyone should fear a loss of benefits, and zero delivery of a true universal daycare program.

$15 per day? I call BS. It will be up over our current costs before you can whistle dixie.
