First off, I didn't quote you. I was making a general comment on the general direction the thread was going in. Second: would you prefer me to pull the Mussolini card instead. I just calls em as I sees em.

I know protesting looks useless but I have seen it change things, not always for the better, but at least people let their feelings be heard.

I think the reference was to the provocoteur, who had no insignia. Was he a cop? who knows; do they act in such ways? I have no doubt. But in any case, if a provocateur does incite a riot, or commit an otherwise indictable act, citizens do have the right to arrest and detain them. Individual police officers acting in such a manner of their own accord shows a definate lack of good judgement, police forces either allowing it or sanctioning it shows a real breakdown in society as we know it. Houston, we have a problem. A really big problem. We have let government, and their forces, become too powerful over us. Sorry, but we did it to ourselves.

Precisely! What boggles my mind is the number of people who support such insanity. Blame everything on the protesters and demand a crackdown. To me it is like demanding the jailer lock you up and throw away the key, which is why provocateurs are used - create a situation where normally sane people demand their own freedoms be taken away. It seems that the general consensus of opinion is exactly as they planned it. Propaganda works.

Jeez! Do those clowns ever look like Black Bloc provocateurs, yes/no? I haven't see it yet but a friend says he saw Bloc guys wearing police issue boots too. I'm beginning to wonder who is actually wearing the foil hats that some are accusing those who are trying to point out the fallacy of the media statements are wearing.

Canada really needs an anti-entrapment law.

We do have such laws, but I'm just not sure where it would apply here. Many protesters are arrested and detained, only to be released without charges later, no harm no foul as far as the state is concerned. Police use of force on peaceful protesters, passers by, reporters, without the "procamation" being read is assault and should be dealt with accordingly. But alas, that never seems to happen.
