Time to end visa-free access to US passport holders?

Sure the US could retaliate, but remember, this is the US against everyone. See you at the visa office and enjoy the queue.

Reduce tourism.

Another fiendishly clever plan.

It could reduce tourism. No trade war leaves no pain. It's inevitable that Canada will suffer. The idea is to impose tariffs that maximally hurt the US economy. It would weaken the value of the US passport which in turn could make US citizens less attractive candidates in international trade, etc.

Better than all this:
Keep friendship with the American people: like the visa and others.

Make a good economic deal with Russia and China (so as to enrage the US gov. and let them think better.)

Put tariff also on the important Canadian exports like the log wood, and some minerals: to make it more expensive for the US customer [so in addition to their tariff, the price will be doubled.]

Is the last point logical!? It may be wrong

Good idea. "Surrender or we'll destroy our tourist industry!"

A trade.war always hurts all sides anyway. In WWII, Churchill bombed Berlin. It had no clear military objective but psychologically it caused Hitler to shift from bombing airfields (a clear military strategy) to bombing London ti assuage his anger.

Revoking visa-free entry ti Americans to Canada, the EU, Mexico, Japan, etc. would still have a psychological effect. Also, Americans travel for business too. Visa restrictions hassle them.
