VICTORIA — Three more members of Premier Christy Clark’s British Columbia Liberal government are set to announce their intentions to leave politics.

Government sources have told The Canadian Press that Education Minister George Abbott, Children and Family Development Minister Mary McNeil and John Les, parliamentary secretary to the premier, will announce on Thursday they won’t seek re-election in the May provincial election.

A press conference is set for 11 a.m. in Victoria.

The three resignations come less than 24 hours after former finance minister Kevin Falcon stepped down from cabinet and said he won’t be running in the spring.

Following Falcon’s announcement, Clark said Wednesday that she expected more resignations and signalled she was preparing to shuffle her cabinet shortly to fill the vacant positions.

She said Falcon’s resignation and those that were to come should not be viewed as the disintegration of her government but as opportunities for the Liberals to rebuild their free-enterprise coalition and bring fresh eyes to the government.

Christy is right. It is time for most of these to go so we can have some new blood for the next election. None of those leaving cabinet ministers supported Christie's bid for leadership either so it might be said that support has been less than it could have been.
All of them are ready for their golden parachute courtesy of the taxpayer.

When can we officially call the Liberal party a non-party and not applicable to any federal or provincial funding/support? The country is changing for the better...

The BC Liberals are history, but I don't see the BC Conservatives taking up the mantle, at least not yet.

They are getting out with a cabinet ministers pensions because they know they haven't got a snowball's chance in hell of getting reelected......

I would've liked to have seen Kevin falcon and the rest of the Campbell mouthpieces run their condescending mouths while being in opposition

Meanwhile, in England his Royal highness Lord gordo is totally oblivious to the destruction and carnage that is caused.

He more than likely thinks that the cookie is getting her just desserts after fleeing his cabinet upon foisting the hated Carbon Tax on the people of BC. One thing is absolutely certain, Christie won't be getting any cushy postings once her government is turfed. She has done everything she can to alienate the Feds.
