Thoughts re: Florida's 'Self Defense' Law

Okay, so let's accept as a given that, if you feel you are being threatened, you are legally allowed to shoot and kill another person. This is a Florida law, people seem to think it's a good idea.

By this logic, it would be legal for someone, say a soldier who is being deployed to an active war zone, to assassinate the President if he was in Florida. Also, anyone who is being arrested by a police officer could, if they felt threatened, legally kill the officer. If, for example, a police officer shoots at you, you would be within your rights to kill that officer.

Apparently shooting a black kid in a mostly white gated community who has his hood up (raining) and talking on a cell is completely justifiable in Florida.
