Bush stated in one speech:

George Dubya Bush's speech of June 28 was an un-apologetic insult to the intelligence of the American people, a slap in your face. There were 5 direct references to 9/11 in that speech, used in the context of justifying a war that has no justification. Bush would have you believe that the reason we must prosecute the war in Iraq is because of 9/11 and "if we don't fight them in Iraq we'll have to fight them here". Dubya claims that Iraq is the "latest battlefield in this war".​

This was written about the U.S. by an American but it certainly applies to Canada as well.

Whenever I hear “they hate us because of our freedom” or "because they hate our way of life" or some other such drivel, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. If real people didn’t suffer the consequences of it, such ignorance would be amusing. But another annoying thing about statements like these is that they perpetuate the myth that we live in a land of freedom. The sad fact is, we are not free, and haven't been for a long, long time.

I centered on your fisrt paragraph and one statement in general, which led me to my original post.

The rest of your post is the typical "you're not free" rebuttle stuff. In some respects yes we must give up some of our freedoms for our own safety. Like building a house. You as an Engineer, my very well be able to do so. But the gentlemen down at the convenience storethat has no idea what a load bearing wall is, really should not.

That said.

I'ld like to address your statement, if I may.

I didn't realise that I had to filter my responce through the pinko leftist, non denomonational, generic, anti septic, PC, sanitized liberal-o-matic that so infests this country, before it mustered merit.

The lovely left side of things cries at the thought of losing any freedoms when it comes to having our emails scanned by CSIS, but the very same people would create a ministry of wiping ones ass, if they thought they could get away with it, our at least buy a couple thousand votes. That very over abundance of governance that the left love to create, has done more to restrict our freedoms then any homeland security bill has.

I also didn't realize that I wasn't allowed to expose who "They" are. If I used the don't stick your neck out, don't take a stand on a solid platform, don't point you chubby finger at the real culprits, way of thinking, that permiates all governmental bodies. I would not have, but then again, I try to do nothing a liberal party member would.

The people that so commonly utter that "drivel", besides the fearmongering meatheads that love to incite terror in the name of control, are the frustrated, much malined, displaced, dissinfranchised, tax burdened middle class people that see there governments pander to the sqeaky wheels and special interest groups with such zest. All the while, with such indifference and callousness, that it can only be seen as contempt, allow the erosion of their traditions, rights and freedoms, so that the sqeakers will feel better about themselves and vote big red L.

"They hate us because of our freedom" is a silly comment, but with the huge commute to work and the kids going to two hockey practices a week, the bills mounting even with two incomes, because there is only one single family living in their single family home, worrying about that lump in her breast while waiting 4 months to get an MRI, takes up more of the typical middle classes free time then they can spare to seek out the truth. But hey, the kids can always cut their childhood short so mom and dad can go to the english as a second language course they fund and mingle with the "Them".
