On Monday, Mr. Bush will face another test of his clout, when the Republican-controlled Senate tries again to overcome Democratic opposition and confirm John R. Bolton as ambassador to the United Nations.

It looks like he's going to lose this one. He was practically begging the Senate to actually vote on this, but it looks like the Democrats are going to continue to filibuster. Bush needs 60 senate votes to stop that, and most indications are that he hasn't got them.

That leaves Bush either appointing Bolton in recess once the Senate breaks for the summer, a poor choice because it makes Bolton damaged goods and he'll still need approval when the Senate sits again, or Bush loses.

This looks doubly bad for Bush because the Democrats are filibustering in an attempt to get information about who Bolton intercepted messages from and if Bolton then took action against those people. Bush has that information, so his refusal to release it to the Democrats makes it look like he's hiding something...which he likely is.

My guess is that Bolton will quit. That will save at least some face for Bush. Bolton will then be hired on in some sort of patronage position where he doesn't need Senate approval...which will also look bad for Bush. It's a political mess for the Bushites. :lol:

let them eat war. indeed.

bush is so determined to leave his mark in the hall of presidents......that he will do anything to do it.

Well, ladies and gentlemen... he is leaving his "mark" indeed. Might not be the way he intended.

Gotta wonder what kind of "crisis" he is prepared to create to rally the population around him this time...... Or will the population fall for it again??

Bush's WMD 'Joke': Is the Media Still Laughing?

"Your jest shall savour but a shallow wit,
When thousands more weep than did laugh at it."

Henry V

(the PROBLEM being that bush has a perverse/bizarre sense of non-humor)

Hillary is very popular with the non-Bush crowd and can bring in a lot of women voters. That's a big demographic. Meanwhile Jeb has a last name that is becoming increasingly unpopular and Condi is irretrievably connected with a bunch of liars who started an illegal war and messed up the economy.

Hillary is also SMART. She is also "clever" She understands the innuendos of politics and political strategy. (all three bushes can't total an IQ to match hers.) But she has not decided to make that move yet........so why are some dismissing her already??? Scared??? Waiting for the frights to sharpen their bashing teeth already. American elections are perhaps the ugliest on this planet now. The last one was so sadistic in content.(and juvenile)......not sure how some could even watch them.

Not only is Condi a woman, but she's a black woman. Unfortunately, I don't think Jeb is going to run. How sad. But we're doing our best to convince him down here. Condi would make a great Veep on the ticket for whomever.

Hillary has much of the Democratic establishment, lots of money, has moved to the centre, has name recognition, and has Slick Willie on her side, who is a brilliant politician. But her negatives are continuously in the 30s-40s, she's rigid and wooden, is loaded with baggage and she won't win a state in the South. The Dems should look elsehere, like Governor Warner, who has done a good job running Virginia, a Republican state.

I'm pretty sure that Condi is actually a stupid white man, Toro. You know what they say...it's what's on the inside that counts. Condi's insides are rotten to the core.

She looks hot in those dominatrix boots! How can you not like a female that wants to be the commissionair of the NFL? She's got my vote.
