The question was which is the "unknown "one and the answer is the (obvious one ) the present .
We live in he past ,the past is the only thing that we know ,whatever we do (in the present is something we have done before ( past , the known) if it wasn't ,how would we know what we are doing.All knowledge and experience is accumulated in the memory ;memory is past, memory is thought ;thought is past, knowledge is past ; our brain cells are past , we function in past, we are the past.Future is also a known;future is a past .

You're playing with words, fun isn't it? Thought is past? I don't think that's entirely correct, I think thought is all three states, past present and future all at the same time in fact the division of time into those three cardinal states is a concept only, they are in fact indivisable same as the universe, none of them have any meaning in isolation. We draw from the past to experiance the present while we stretch into the future all three aspects of the same construct we call time. There is a constant reference between the aspects or there is no time at all. The present does not exist, the past does not exist, the future does not exist. We are dynamic interruptions in the space time continuim, nothing is static enough to be called the present.

Well, what is thought if not a response of your memory .What is a memory if not accumulation of your past knowledge , experiences ,feelings ......all experienced , all past .The moment you experience something new ,it is transferred into a memory and it becomes old, past .Memory -thought , there is no one without the other

But the future is uncertain, we may think we know what will happen, and we may plan for things too happen,none of which we can be certain of will indeed happen,and the present is just a very minute fraction of the future.

I just planned to write this post, and, here it is, and when I finish this post, I am going
upstairs to brush my teeth, and I know I will get there, our stairs are in good shape, my
tap will turn on, my tooth brush is pretty new, and I have toothpaste, so I 'know' it
will happen, when I finish doing that, we are going for coffee, then out to the ocean
to feed the birds and sit and enjoy our life, that will also happen, (unless we get run
over by a truck, right?), we'll keep our eyes peeled.;-)
