Maybe it took a couple of years for the Texas and American attitude to wear off, and eight months in Ontario with my family. ;)

Re: Clinton vs. Trump: This one's a no-brainer

I think you're right, but I'm trying to cautious about writing him off or thinking I can truly grasp the reasons for his popularity. It makes sense that he won the Republican nomination. Despite conventional wisdom, you can win over Republicans with overt racism, misogyny and bravado. But how does that translate into the general electorate? How can we explain that while it doesn't look like he can win, he's still popular? That seems to me that there's something in the general electorate he can still appeal to and he may win.

Like I said, I want to be cautious in explaining the Trump phenomenon, but I think you can connect his popularity outside of the circle of Republican hate with Bernie Sander's popularity. Part of his appeal is not just his Mussolini-esque rhetoric, but his being a voice of change to a people frustrated with the failures of conventional politics. Sanders had that same advantage. And you could see that polarization in the 1920s and 30s when fascists and socialists rose in prominence. It's radical change that people want and though you wouldn't expect it, there's a lot of crossover between supporters of fascism and socialism at the time, before things really coalesced. I think we're seeing that mentality now.
O no shades of Rob Ford on a national level .

Re: Clinton vs. Trump: This one's a no-brainer

maybe they have dragged him into a classroom situation these days, and are cramming into his thick
head, how to act and talk like a president, he needs to suck up to much of the country to make
anyone have an ounce of respect for him, even if it is fake, it will sound better.

Why the heck do you care? You made it real clear that gays are meaningless according to your idiot version of evolutionary theory.

Because, I still feel for my fellow evolutionary brothers, and sisters, with whom I share common ancestry, in the same way we care for our family, and friends. And I don't like to see them be killed and injured.

My sense of tribal community has not been completely taken from me the way it has been from you.

Donald Chump I'd getting dumped.
(You like what I did there?)

Obama goes on tirade against Trump over Muslim ban, 'radical Islam'

Washington (CNN)President Barack Obama on Tuesday unleashed a blistering verbal assault on Donald Trump and his proposal for a ban on Muslims entering the country, saying the suggestion violates the principles of American democracy and dismissing the "yapping" from "politicians who tweet."

Obama also angrily pushed back against criticism for not using the term "radical Islamic terrorism," calling it "loose talk."

"What exactly would using this language accomplish? What exactly would it change?" Obama asked during remarks at the Treasury Department. "Would it make ISIL less committed to try and kill Americans?" he continued, using a different acronym for ISIS.

"Would it bring in more allies? Is there a military strategy that is served by this? The answer is none of the above. Calling a threat by a different name does not make it go away."

"The men and women who put their lives at risk and the Special Forces I ordered to get bin Laden and are now on the ground in Iraq and in Syria -- they know full well who the enemy is," Obama said. "So do the intelligence and law enforcement officers who spent countless hours disrupting plots. And protecting all Americans, including politicians who tweet, and appear on cable news shows. They know what the nature of the enemy is. So there's no magic to the phrase 'radical Islam.' It's a political talking point."

Obama added, "This is a political distraction."

He did not use Trump's name, but his target was clear when he referred to the presumptive Republican nominee and called out Republican leaders for not opposing him.

Obama also called for Congress to pass tougher gun laws and the renewal of the assault weapons ban.

"We have to make it harder for people who want to kill Americans to get their hands on weapons of war that let them kill dozens of innocents," Obama said. "Enough talking about being tough on terrorism. Actually be tough on terrorism."

Obama, who opened his remarks by providing an update on the investigation into the Orlando terrorist attack over the weekend, said the U.S. currently does not have "any information to indicate that a foreign terrorist group directed the attack in Orlando."

"It is increasingly clear, however, that the killer took in extremist information and propaganda over the Internet," Obama said."He appears to have been an angry, disturbed, unstable young man who became radicalized."

Obama is overcompensating with his message on trump. It's interesting to see how fearful of trump Obama really is. He is ****ting his pants at the idea.

I'm inclined to believe you on this one. I can't think of anybody that's got more experience with overcompensating than you.
