GO TEAM CANADA! :canada:
I watched W5 prior to the opening ceremonies of the games. The benefits of wounded vets becoming involved in some type of sport and spending time with other vets were well in evidence. Each vet was a wonderful example of how becoming an athlete helped them overcome the horrific physical and emotional traumas they suffered in the service of our country. I really hope other vets who have not yet asked for help will watch these games and these amazing athletes and be moved to reach out.
Opening Ceremonies Comments:
There is a very large Scot presence in the ceremonies. Lots of kilts, and pipes and drums bands.
Well the 3 tenors absolutely nailed the National Anthem.
The one saving grace about Justin is he sure is easy on the eyes. That and his ability to rock the house when it comes to inspirational speeches. Empty though they may be of any true intent, they sure sound good. He is at his best though when he speaks French. His passion is much more evident and on display.
Mike Myers:
Mike has really taken these games to heart and it is once again on full display. His love for and respect of his parents has been a recurring topic in all of his interviews and he is speaking of them tonight as he opens the games. They would be very proud of their son.

The 3 tenors have dropped the suits and have opted for a more semi-punk look - all fine young singers with amazing range.
Oh this is cool, they are having an aerial segment and the entire Snow Birds team formed a Maple Leaf outlined against a crystal clear blue sky. It was so cool.
Now there is some young woman on stage, to say she was a singer would have to negate the fact that all she is really doing to speaking, albeit with the odd bow to a musical note. I missed her catching her name. Apparently she is a Canadian star in the music world. The crowd doesn't look all that enthused.
