Hmmm ... now is that really a compliment? ;)

Ask your buddies if they'd like a radical feminist dyke on their team. :) You'd probably not get a real affirmative response. In fact, they'd probably start supporting gun control to make sure I didn't get one! ;)

It is a compliment...I didn't intend for it to be, but now that you mention it...

There are elements in rightdom that would have a problem...but we need to draw on all aspects of life to get a nice round policy....

Surely you aren't a "radical" feminist...if you are what "radical" femmy thing have you done lately?

Ah, Cosmo, you can play on our team any time you like. We are such an inclusive club, despite rumors to the negative. I think you have righty overtones as well. That IS a compliment, BTW. 8)

Um ... "inclusive club" ... perhaps we're not talking about the same political party! But thanks for the vote of confidence.

I am fairly balanced in my views of the world ... and I don't think either side has a monopoly on being correct. I figure all government is a bunch of theiving liars at the core so my endorsement of the left comes from choosing the lesser evil.

At heart I'm an anarchist, actually. Responsible anarchy would be my ideal world. Again, a whole 'nother thread. :)

I will start that thread, Jay, just so you and I can debate it. ;) Unfortunately right now we're having power bumps and I keep losing my electricity. Quite annoying. :( I'll let ya know when I get it started.

Sure...I'm just interested in what "radical Femmy" things you’re up too...

Being a moderate masculinist, I'm curious.

But Blue is right, were not going to throw you out for being a dyke.

RE: The Gun Registry Must

Well, Jay, thanks for the offer but I'll hang around on the left side of the spectrum with just the occasional foray into the right to support an issue here and there. Waaaaay too many die hard christian types on the right for me.

"moderate masculinist"  Too funny! Great term.

Radical doesn't mean I run around emasculating anyone ... it just means I don't tolerate any kind of discrimination of my gender. It's not about being a man hater at all. Some of my best friends are guys. I think you're expecting something too colourful here. ;)

RE: The Gun Registry Must

We dont need guns (except for target shooting and hunting), were not a violent gun crazy country like America. Hell Canada customs still do not have guns. The only security guards here that have guns are the ones that handle money and drive armoured vehicles unlike the US where I have seen armed security guards in their malls, casinos and apartment buildings. Believe me it was an eye opener.

But I do think the gun registry was mishandled. I still have yet to register 3 of the 4 of mine. So I guess I am a criminal?

Ya I was hoping for some excitement...I won't hold you up on the thread creation though...

"We don’t need guns "

We don't need politicians either, but we gots lots of them....The Charter says :

"7. Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of the person and the right not to be deprived thereof except in accordance with the principles of fundamental justice."

So I argue we do need guns for security, and to deny people the right is to go directly against the Charter....

RE: The Gun Registry Must

Interesting stats from stats Canada:

n a study issued on Monday, the federal agency notes that Canadian gun-control laws have been stiffened in recent decades and gun registration has been made compulsory, but it draws no conclusions about the cause of the falling death toll.

It says that 816 people — 767 males and 49 females — died of firearms-related injuries in Canada in 2002, the most recent year examined in the study. This represented 2.6 deaths per 100,000 population, down from 5.9 per 100,000 in 1979, it said

In a cross-border comparison for the year 2000, Statistics Canada says the risk of firearms death was more than three times as great for American males as for Canadian males and seven times as great for American females as for Canadian females.

Gun deaths cut in half, StatsCan says

Hmmm...now what could have caused such a large drop in gun-related deaths? Something must have happened. Perhaps there was some new gun control legislation put in place or something? :p

By the way, it's significantly lower for most Americans if you're not black or hispanic.

Black on black crime is rife in the Rap, kill the cop culture, richote that bullet into your brother's child, driveby laughter in the night.

Generally if you masturbate long enough and do it often enough the statistical average of your size can be misleading.

Now don't you do this at home.

Man, just kidding.

I really am tired.

Gotta go.

RE: The Gun Registry Must

It is working. But i will admit it is poorly managed and has wasted a lot of money, but it is needed. The quote from my above link is a reason why the USA needs gun control:

Because more of the U.S. deaths were homicides (as opposed to suicides or accidental deaths), the U.S. rate of gun homicide was nearly eight times Canada's, the agency says. Homicides accounted for 38 per cent of deaths involving guns in the United States and 18 per cent in Canada.

Not in effect here. The statistics used for this purpose were from 1979 - 2002, the gun registry didn't come fully into effect until 2003. It has more to do with making hunter safety courses mandatory around the beginning of the time periods studied in this case.
