I realize i may be veering on the edge of off topic with two recent posts-but aren't lyrics speech set to music?
With that in mind-where are all the protest and anti war songs?
Is everybody "too cool" today? Is everybody no longer interested in the difficult art of writing and singing poignant songs about things that really are life and death-not a "broken heart"or other minor problems.
Dylan's Masters of War is great-but getting old."AND THE BAND" has been called the greatest anti-war song ever.Still-it's world war 2.
This song by Steve Earle-came out years ago -but events have made it fresh. There are a few still around about protest like Iris Dement's "Livin in the Wasteland".
I invite anyone who knows a great "anti"song to drop it down here.Oh-can't forget the melodic genius of PaulSimon .His "Pig,Sheep & Wolves " is fresh and it won't take long to figure out who are pigs in society ,sheep wolves ,etc.
