Several thousand people in Walkerton would disagree with you as would the family of Dudley George.[/quote]
As has been pointed out many times, these incidents were the fault of the perpetrators (ie. the Koebel bros. and the OPP officer) not my good friend Mikey.

In the bush near Sudbury
Walkerton has been pointed out as the result of cutting costs in the wake of Harris downloads of provincial responsibilities onto the municipalities.... and Walter, my friend.... Your good friend was my MLA. I have seen his distaste for "fuc*ing Indians" live and in person on Nipissing 10. Mikey didn't pull the trigger, but his wish was heard as an order. Why do you think he's the only Premier to leave office who still needs body guards. If you shake hands with the man, make sure the digits add up to five when you get the hand back.

Woof!

Wolf is right, the Harris government made deep cuts to government ministries without caring about the consequences. The men running the water system in Walkerton weren't qualified for the position and the failsafes to prevent a health crisis had been dismantled.

And testimony from the officers in charge of the Ipperwash standoff have testified in open court it was political pressure from Harris that made them alter their normal procedures resulting in Georges death. It was a lands claims not a public safety issue, but Harris let his personal bais take charge. He didn't even have the guts to finish out his term, instead quiting a few days before the inquiry results were made public.
