Can the nation afford it in it's present form?.... That is the question here gopher

See my ealrier links which proved that THOUSANDS of Americans died every year due to lack of HCR.

Can we afford more deaths, less productivity, and less taxes generated?

If it was your loved ones whose lives were jeopardized due to lack of HCR the answer would be only too obvious.

Give it up gopher.

The cupboards are bare; the gvt is using debt to pad the social services while simultaneously driving away the high tax paying companies like Haliburton, Apple, etc via punitive tax policy.... So spare me the lecture on raising money through productivity and income taxes when it is the gvt that is driving away the high paying employers.

As far as the emotional plea via 'your loved ones' - well, that is in part one of the base reasons that the system (in Canada at least) is going down the tubes. People demand any, and every medical procedure available based on the notion it is someone close to their heart, therefore the system should hemorrhage red ink because of that.

Ask that same person to draw money from the ole chequing account and they are magically at a loss for words. Apparently, the loved one isn't worth one thin dime when the money originates from their own pocket

Where's your proof of this claim? Your links prove nothing. All hearsay.

Assume much? By the way, you may need to spend more time reading, as you missed entirely what was said. She wasn't in the US without insurance. As to why someone in the US wouldn't have insurance, many people have been rejected for health conditions ranging from disabilities to pregnancy. Some can't afford the premiums. There are many reasons, though fewer now that the healthcare reform was passed.
Drivel.

I'm having trouble finding any other survey that corroborates with this survey. Is this an outlier?

Here y'go, Walmart.

Nearly 45,000 annual deaths are associated with lack of health insurance, according to a new study published online today by theAmerican Journal of Public Health. That figure is about two and a half times higher than an estimate from the Institute of Medicine (IOM) in 2002.
The study, conducted at Harvard Medical School and Cambridge Health Alliance, found that uninsured, working-age Americans have a 40 percent higher risk of death than their privately insured counterparts, up from a 25 percent excess death rate found in 1993.

Of course. You're smarter than Harvard.

Walter just does not have enough honesty or character to admit he's been defeated innumerable times on this forum.

The government still has enough money to finance two wars, to finance Israel's health care, and to finance Michelle Bachmann's corporate welare. Therefore, it can also find the means to pay for health care for all.

It's hard to believe how dependent and unable so many Americans are when it comes to taking responsibility for their own affairs. Dependency and paternalism are anathema to being a fully independent, autonomous and free human being.

People who are dependent live at the beck and call of others. I just think that is so sad.

Call back all the capital sheltered overseas in tax free accounts and all will be well.

Why on Earth would any one voluntarily move their money to a jurisdiction where the Feds have vowed to take it away, especially having already paid a punitive tax on it once?

But, that's your standard answer to everything - get someone else to pay for the entitlements and excesses that society can't afford.

Maybe some day you'll understand that there is no free lunch and the party ends the very nanosecond that the accounts are empty

.

Is that what this forum is about? Defeating people? Personally I think the more ideas we hear the better off we are. Very few ideas are 100% correct as very few are 100% incorrect. What's right (correct) for one person may not be correct for everyone. I know there are some people who go through life and never change their opinion..............I find that really sad (outside of a very few matters of integrity) If we don't change we can't grow.

As has been proven here more than enough times nobody gets more welfare than do corporations. In fact we had an extensive discussion on Obama's stimulus plan and how it is welfare.

Where were you when we discussed all that welfare that is being payed for by taxpayers???????

Then why can't you write clearly? And why can't you afford to pay for your own health insurance?

You don't practice law for a living. You don't act like a lawyer.

It hasn't been proven... You just make the statement, employ highly skewed and selective logic and pretend that the rest is true.

Just for fun, let's use the (relatively) recent bank bailout as a functional example: If the Feds didn't bail them out and they all went titters, what do you think the effect would be?

  1. Depositors losing all or part of their savings
  2. Mass and immediate foreclosures on the properties in which they wrote mortgages.
  3. All associated bank staff unemployed
  4. Many/most service industries that had banks as their clients close their doors.
  5. An instantaneous freeze on credit facilities right across the board
The list goes on from there..... So, exactly 'who' did the Feds bail-out on this?

Time to let go of your hatred for select demographics and move on... It is really very childish if the truth be known

Never said I was a lawyer - did some work in poverty law but mostly worked in taxation. My writing is perfectly clear but you right wing delusionals keep reading into my posts rather than reading them.

I don't bother asking you what you do for a living so let's keep the personal life out of the equation. OK?

Captain,

It hasn't been proven... You just make the statement, employ highly skewed and selective logic and pretend that the rest is true.

Maybe in your delusionalism it hasn't been proven. But if you bothered to read my earlier link to David Stockman's admission that Reaganomics is welfare for the rich you would have known that what I wrote was the truth. When he got caught in his lies he was fired by Reagan in order to save face. But you are too peevish and too dishonest to admit it.
