In some circles it is by and large I do not agree. Most of the American population
is still pretty sound. We have losers on the Republican Right and yes the Radical
Left. The vast majority measures up to be pretty good folk.
I do think the political people in leadership are out to lunch but they are not
representative of the nation anymore
The voters get what they deserve.
You are using the 80/20 rule and that is good but if the 80 were moral people who sought justice, would they have waited so long to implement a national health care and would they not have done something about the redistribution of wealth between the rich and poor by now?
That last statement applies to all countries and peoples.

I am simply not religious. There may or may not be some kind of "Creator" but I'm not going to put any stock in the idea that he/she/it is watching us with a vengeful eye or holds us to some kind of moral code.
In the Old Testament, one had to offer a sacrifice to God in order to receive his blessing or forgiveness, ie; appease him. This is an ancient practice that long predates Judaism. People made sacrifices to sun gods, and moon gods and water gods and mountain gods and sky gods and blah blah blah.
If God did indeed create everything, then with an almost limitless universe, it seems highly unlikely he'd be so preoccupied with a bunch of apes inhabiting a blue marble in some backwater of a non-descript galaxy.
I have no argument against your healthy religious views.
Let me show you why I think sacrificing was done as it may have some lessons in it for all here in terms of what they want to retain in life.
The ancients were quite bright for desert nomads. Start at about the 9 min. mark although the whole clip is informative.

Being the decendant of a UEL family who were forced to leave the new US because of raw racism and xenophobia, I would say they they never had on in the first place. They talk a big game, though.
Yes but talking a big game is how one becomes a big player.
Perhaps we should all start talking a bigger game and set goals that are not as low as what we have settled for.
You become what you pretend to be. This experiment shows that clearly.
