Well, we were a handful and a half to them, so they apparently thought they'd expend a bit more than they wanted to by conquering us. It all depends upon how you misunderstand what I said. lol
Had nothing to do with what I read but with what I didn't read. I missed one post. Whew! I'm glad you're on my side. How about you Ron? You Irish?

Gee - we must be brother and sister (a woman I work with actually said to me "We both had babies when we were 19 so that must mean we are the same age" 8O8O)

The great irony being that it is the Republicans who created the Patriot Act and now we will use it on any traitor who threatens secession!

Too bad George Bush isn't in power anymore; we could have traded Canada's province of Alaska for Texas.

But hey, we never know. Obama looks sharper than that, but we could always try.

Hither and yon
Texas has been going on about their right to seperate from the union almost as long as it has been in it.
I remember back in Ann Richards day when I lived in Corpus Christi a small fringe group was constantly rabbiting on about leaving the union.

I really dont see it happening.

Texas is jealous of California and thinks it is a bad influence on Washington.
Big deal.
As long as the current administration doesnt do something completely off the wall (nationalize the American oil industry) its all just hot air.

I think having a Canadian province negotiate a type of sovereignty association is far more likely myself.

If you don't think the media has any influence, just look at how little coverage the "Tea Pary" tax protest was covered last weekend. This is a letter I recieved from a friend of mine who attended one of these "Tea Parties".

Subject: Tea party and an Important Petition

Hi everyone,

My wife Ruth, my sister Ruth, and I joined the tea party on Tax Day at the intersection of Route 59 and Middletown Road in Nanuet and it was a great experience for all of us. It was the first time we ever took part in a protest demonstration and we met a lot of nice folks and had a lot of thumbs ups and horn honkers supporting us as they drove by for the 3 1/2 hours we spent holding up signs protesting the stimulus, the pork, and tax and spend policies of the Barak Hussein Obama administration.

At the Tea Party we also learned about a very important petition with tremendous grass roots support. A fellow Tea Party tax demonstrator urged everybody to go the website to sign the petition to rescind the president of Notre Dame's decision to invite Obama to speak and receive an honorary degree at the May 17th commencement because of his anti-life pro-abortion policies. The goal is to have 1,000,000 signatures before May 17th and they already have over 300,000. You should go to www.notredamescandal.com for more information and to sign the petition. We just did.

Unless you watch Fox news or listen to talk radio you probably didn't even know anything about the Tea Parties that took place all over the country on April 15 since the left wing liberal media totally ignored it. The Rockland County demonstration wasn't very large, after all this is a liberal area, but other parts of the country had very large turnouts. From what I can gather, there were anywhere from 800 to 2000 tea parties across the nation with 250,000 to 2,000,000 participants. The Alamo turnout was outstanding (God bless those Texans), New Mexico was terrific, Atlanta was fantastic, and even cold and wet D.C had a nice turnout right across the street from the White House despite the bad weather.

My generation has seen the world become a different place in our lifetime so far, and not for the better, either. When I was young the WW2 veterans were returning heroes that saved the world from fascism and got back home, rolled up their sleeves, went to school or back to work and raised families with no complaints. Nowadays, since I am a veteran, and a gun owner, and a Conservative, I am a potential right wing extremist terrorist triple threat to my own country, according to our new director of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano. What about all the extreme left wing violent demonstrators who have been saying that they hate this country for decades. Oh, that's right, I forgot that they are the college professors and teachers that are dumbing down our children and filling their heads with rewritten American History and all sorts of left wing liberal touchy feely mush. They might even be presidential advisers or Cabinet members (that is, if they haven't paid any taxes lately).

Do you feel like a lot of people in this country are getting a free ride at your expense? Do you think that foreigners, illegal aliens, etc. should receive free healthcare at your expense? Do you wonder if Social Security will be there for you when you retire? Do you think members of Congress should receive Social Security benefits, just like most Americans, or should they just continue to receive their full pay forever after they leave office, as they do now, even after serving only one term? Should Nancy Pelosi "work" only 3 days a week in Washington and fly back and forth to San Francisco every week in her own personal 220 passenger jet at a cost of more than $6,000,000 a year? Do you think people that don't pay any taxes should get tax rebates and stimulus payments from your taxes?

Obama promised change and he brought back the Clintonites and a bunch of political hacks and tax cheats, including Hillary. Obama promised transparency and he gets the biggest spending bill ever passed by a democrat congress without giving anybody time to read it. Obama promised a line by line veto and signs a huge pork and earmark filled budget. Taxes are heading through the roof and your children and their children will be paying the bills for tax and spend left wing extremist policies for their entire lifetimes unless we all wake up and join in the protest against taxes, just like the American Revolutionaries who helped found this great country in the 1700's at the Boston Tea Party.

After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Admiral Yamamoto allegedly said that he feared that "we (the Japanese) have awakened a sleeping giant". History proved Yamamoto to be prophetic; I hope this tax protest movement is a sleeping giant that will awaken Americans to what's going on and we will all join the movement to defeat the current tax and spend left wing socialist policies of this administration.
