Temporary Politicians?( Government Reform/Election Reform )

Perhaps Politicians should be required to Prove their worth before getting elected to a Full Term.?

Suggestion :

How about;

We create a board of (11?) Honorable Non-Partisan Individuals responsible for selecting Temp-Politicians who would be required to Solve Issues/Problems of Public Interest, Etc... BEFORE getting elected to a Full Term ?

If these Temp-Politicians can prove their worth; their abilities to Govern, to solve problems, deal successfully with Issues of public interest; Get The Job Done. Only Then, would they get a chance at being elected to a Full term in the next election.

Sound Good?

Sounds too much like an oligarchy. This is the way they do things in Iran.

Seems like a bit of a catch ...don't it?....However, these Honorable/Distinguished Individuals would be people already acknowledged and accepted by the general public( Kinda like Senators/More like Public Icons, etc.)..These Selected Temp Politicians, would have to prove themselves to the general public, BEFORE getting the Chance at being elected, by the Public; In a DEMOCRATIC election.

I believe that you would have greater success in this endeavour if you eliminated these 'Honourable/Distinguished Individuals' from ever being able to take public office at all. If they have no go-forward interest other than overseeeing the actual politicians, you might stand a chance of selecting an 'honourable' individual

Oh, right! OK, that makes perfect sense.

I mean, what could possibly be more quintessentially Canadian than having a hockey team choose the government?

And it certainly makes at least as much sense as any other method in use.

Based on what we've had to date, I can't see a reason why we shouldn't give it a shot.... That or we have an MMA-style of Parliament.

Question period would never be the same and on a budgetary note; the pay-per-view revenues might even cover the annual cost of gvt!

What good is it going to do to create another bottleneck of power seekers? None, in my opinion.

If you have ever thought about the proposal to do away with the "first over the goal line" system of current elections, it had a lot going for it. IMO people just suffered a knee jerk negative response without thinking it through. That would be preferable to the above proposal, which seems similar to the American "electoral college". We are not going to find a group of 'wise men' (people) who are disinterested in politics but would want to serve in the proposed function. The idea is oxymoronic. If they want to serve as described they are partisan by definition.

In an open and democratic society every person has the right to run
for office and citizenship is the qualifier. Are you proposing then we
just get rid of everyones constitutional right to run for office? We can
restrict them because we will set up some false qualifiers to get around
personal rights as a citizen,.
The nice thing about a society that is open educated and democratic is
nine times out of ten voters see the idiots. Ron Paul and that crowd
they saw right through them. In Canada Ford in Toronto they missed
can't win every time.

Could we not have some kind of Canadian idle, for politics, like show, we get to vote off participants until one is chosen to get a shot at proving his worth, and then get a chance at getting voted in?

At least then you can make it interesting enough for people to watch & care about politics a little at the same time.

Good 1 Angstrom.

Was Kathleen Wynne Elected?

Political insiders seem to be able to change outcomes of elections using all sorts of political strategies; it's the only time they seem to agree on anything... Or, they simply avoid elections altogether, by agreeing not to have an election, because; they can't afford one; or " not in public interest "...Simply vote/choose to appoint another Leader or Member.

Was Mr.Harper Elected by the People? Or, By Big Money Backers & Good political Science ?

How do Average People become politicians without Big Money/Media Backers?.

In the end, lucky if 50% vote; those votes are split between parties.

Democracy?
