Strange, doesn't seem to be that long ago you were bragging about how great a carpenter you were and making it sound like you were making high 5 to 6 figure pay. Now you say you have to work 2 jobs to make ends meet. I'm starting to think we have another welfare bum pretending to be something he's not. Are you even married? Do you actually have kids or are you still in your mommy and daddy's basement?
Let's presume he's childless, on welfare, and living in his parents' basement. How would that affect the veracity of his social commentary?

Simple, there are more than enough child benefits, tax credits, working family tax breaks for those that need them right now. Have you bothered to see what is available to working families with kids? Have you bothered to add up the monthly benefits? The federal one I posted is just ONE benefit given to families with children. That one alone is over 16000 per year for a family with 3 kids ( depending on age of kids it could be more). That is just ONE federal program. There are more federally and even more provincially.

IF you actually make north of 80k per year, then you're an idiot that has no clue how to budget your money, and that is even more reason that people that DO know how to handle their money shouldn't be having to bail you out. There are new factors to acknowledge. A huge drop in job security. Lost of employment =. Unemployment = borrowing to eat because Unemployment only covers rent.
Lets say 1 winter in 4 on average you lose employment and need to borrow 10000 to cover costs. On top of making less that year.

No drop in job security if your good. Obviously you're not as good as you said you were.
Is is that you don't have enough money or that you are forced to spend too much?
For example, might bylaws in some municipalities imposing parking or minimum lot sizes or preventing mixed development forcing some people to spend beyond their means by buying or renting larger properties or living farther from work than they'd like?
I don't know the answer myself, but I think we need to look to deregulatory mechanisms to help the poor too.
Then don't be a single income family, or live within your means. I know, I know, living within your means is a foreign concept.
The last 5 years have been good. Before that i was competing with many who had 25+ years of experience over me. Sure. I guess you could say i sucked compared to them. But now that they retired younger generations are sucking comparatively equally against me.
I do live within my means. I dont smoke i don't drink i dont eat at restaurants, i spend all my free time doing activities that cost nothing.
I have to pay off my debts from lost of employment.

You cannot prevent a single gle-parent family. Divorce and widow hood are not necessarily within a personal 's control.
I agree with living within one' s means though. The state can hold with that too. Eliminate minimum parking or lot size requirements, allow mixed development, and build more practical cycling/skiing/walking paths and high-density development so people can live closer to work.

Then i guess the kids will have to pay with lack of opportunity due to poor economic environment for my lack of economic opportunity that caused lack of employment.
