No, I'd say it does matter very much but what matters even more is culture.
And you know nothing of me or mine, all you know is my political views. My culture and those of my people, should not be influenced by politics and visa versa. That's how the cycle of sloth, waste and corruption is perpetuated.

Seriously, look at how the protesters on the GEW were dealt with. No one was beaten, no one was taken down in any way that could be deemed excessive.
