Really? I wasn't aware that because I believed in gawd, I was automatically a creationist. I'm dying to hear the logic behind that one.

Simple....

If you believe in God, you believe he created, or you don't believe in God.....

Is that not correct?

You can have a God that is omniscient but not omnipotent. That would qualify as a god that may not have created the universe. More importantly though, you can be a theist but not ascribe to the stupidity of intelligent design - which is a philosophy that anyone in the scientific community (which should include the minister of ****ing science) should ascribe to.

They might as well have put that inbred neanderthal, Baird into the position.

Baloney.

Christianity, or the Judeo-Christian variants all believe in intelligent design to one extent or the other. That and the fact of evolutionary progression are not necessarily mutually exclusive...........and the majority of people in our society by a large margin believe in a higher power....

So of course the Minister of Science could be counted in their number........

You have trouble dealing with the fact some people disagree with you.....in fact the vast majority disagree with you.

The greatest minds of history have been believers......and that includes scientists.

Einstein, Copernicus, Newton, and on and and on and on........oh hell, read it yourself...

Famous Scientists Who Believed in God

And you would forbid these people being Minister of Science!

Now THAT is ludicrous...........

You're putting words in my mouth.

As I said, a belief in God is not the problem. That's what theism is.

It's the rejection of evolution. You can be a theist and accept evolution. Canada's minister of science won't confirm his belief in evolution.

Brian Alters, founder and director of the Evolution Education Research Centre at McGill University in Montreal, was shocked by the minister's comments.

Evolution is a scientific fact, Dr. Alters said, and the foundation of modern biology, genetics and paleontology. It is taught at universities and accepted by many of the world's major religions, he said.

"It is the same as asking the gentleman, 'Do you believe the world is flat?' and he doesn't answer on religious grounds," said Dr. Alters. "Or gravity, or plate tectonics, or that the Earth goes around the sun."

You cannot be affiliated with science and reject evolution.
