Seems this thread is proving exactly what I was saying. It's less and less about what is true and more about who needs a god to live a fruitful existence. The aggravation from these theistic debates only reinforces the fact that it's much better to let go if God exists and just get back to enjoying our lives.

A crutch for the weak minded is all religion is.

But hey, if it makes you feel better, go to church and waste your time.

The best are those that believe in the grand fairytale and don't follow "the word" to the letter.

Because remember......

In other words you can't dispute what I have said. All you can do is pick apart my grammar.

You are still off topic. Address the original thread and I will reply. I have no intention of getting into the equivalent of a school yard shouting match about religion.

I addressed the OP in message #4 of this thread. It covered it completely.

Religion, as we know it, may take on different forms in the future, but the underlying question remains - why are we here and what is the purpose of life?

I choose to believe that we are not here by some quirk of nature and that we exist for a purpose.

But do you need to have religion for you to believe that way?

It appears that your idea of completely covering a topic contrasts greatly with mine. What I was referring to before was your effort to turn the thread into a religious discussion. The article deals with the decline in religious values in Western society; not with the origins of the universe. If you wish such a discussion perhaps you could start a thread in the Spirituality and Philosophy forum. I tend not to become involved in such discussions as I regard them as a waste of time, but I may post a comment to make you happy.

I hope all major religions become extinct in all countries.

All major religions are complete and total wastes of time and do far more harm then good - imo.

The argument could be made that Jesus Christ himself was all about being anti-religion.
For starters, He took a system that had the Jewish people living in spiritual bondage, confined by more than 350 religious rules and regulations, and replaced it with but two simple ways of living which would ensure mankind's survival, both in the spirit as well as in the flesh.

Should I point out that He was killed long before reaching old age?

Say Christianity was banned how would that affect false Christians, would they just drop all the little horrors that they have a tendency to do and go home to live a peaceful existence for the remainder of their lives. They even may say that is what they will do, ...... they are liars from square one, lying is not specific to 'religion' liars exist in all corners of the world, why not get rid of them instead.

Oh? What ways of living are these?

Matthew 22:35-40 (King James Version)
Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Would you take James and Peter as having the right version? They are adding definition to what Romans 13 defines as being 'evil deeds', acts that will bring the sword of death, in the harshest sense of the phrase.

Religion will never be extinct, people will always believe in till such a time where 1984's government becomes a reality across the whole world.
