No - tbud - everyone has to undergo a background/police check both FBI and local State police.
I was writing about Cho in the previous commentary - why would you think citizens don't have to get background checks???
Then I'd like to hear them explain how could he get the guns, if his teachers had reported him as a potential sicko already to the authorities? How can he pass the background check? Plus, there's no waiting period anyway, is there. He gets the guns right away.
Why did he not have anything in his records, that's another good question.
The whole thing is still so horrific, it's hard to take. This Cho whoever he was was so deranged and young people need to know that he was, so they don't see Cho as some kind of anti-hero. That's what I think Cho tried to do with his videos, he must have prepared for this well ahead of time. He also associated himself with the Columbine killers and in doing so tries to encourage other disenchanted youth to join him in what he does. Sadly his propaganda campaign seems to be successful as the media plays his images, over and over.
But I want to point out my view on what Cho did in the end. He killed himself, and that is an admission of his guilt and wrong-doing. I take solice in that knowing, for all his insane ranting he knew he was wrong in the end. Maybe thats why he killed himself even though he apparently still had lots of bullets.
There is some good in this, it's making a lot of people take a closer look at themselves, whats wrong with society to make this possible. I see that as a positive step.
