Still sounds like you're advocating a policy of sinking to the level of the lowest common denominator Zzarchov, unless I'm missing something, whereas it strikes me that BitWhys is against such barbaric stupidity- is that the case??

Its not just the potential barbarity, and I hope it doesn't prove to be true, its the fact that even three days into this the government of the day can't even say how many prisoners they're supposed to able to account for. Their job is to guarantee the administrative infrastructure is in place protect not only our soldiers but themselves and the nations reputation as well from even the possibility of such accusations. They've had over a year to set it up. They should be able to respond catagorically in a heartbeat but they can't. The best they can do is START to investigate.

Whether it happened or not is at this point secondary to whether our government is doing its job. Its not. and its not like no one has mentioned it before.

Gotcha, I'm on the same page, just got confused by folks pulling out WW2 references- I'm surprised the UN hasn't become the whipping boy in this thread yet, actually, but it's still young eh??

Yeah, the government deciding to "look into" something that should DAMN WELL be totally under control already is pathetic, and shows exactly where we stand in this "mission". Definitely not confidence inspiring, and really, if we're this far "in" and we don't even have it set up yet, what the HELL are we actually doing over there??
