Yeah. It's a bloody shame that there are "people" like these around. Anna used to make candied and caramel apples by the dozen, as well as caramel popcorn. Well, she does make the caramel popcorn still but it's for our consumption. I should prod her into making apples again. I miss 'em.Lot's of sick people in the world. Luckily...very few people would be
handing out apples in this day & age....and the child might very well
remember the house that an apple came from.
Oh well - grandkids come tomorrow and the next day. Sometimes, revenge has it's merits. I think I should give the most candy to the children of the son who helped the least during our move to our new home over the past few days!!!!!
Ahh Gerry, - I know that too but - for some strange reason, my kids believe that sugar makes their kids hyper. Well - one of them sort of does. The other one is more inclined to say "what the heck" - it's Halloweeen or it's Christmas or whatever. When my kids were young I never put the brakes on when it came to eating their candy. Who wants it hanging around forever? I only have two sons so they would pour it all into one big container and they ate as much as they wanted and I do not recall any sugar rushes. As a matter of fact - after I wrote that I was digging around in my kitchen and I thought I would go for one of those little "sponge" bars I knew I had in the dish for handing out candy. Not even one left! My "kids" were here helping their Dad bring our buffet and hutch in and they cleaned me out of those and a few other things too. Sooo, if anyone is having a sugar high....agreed, there are some real sick people out there.
Hate to take your fun away (actually...no I'm don't...lol) but studies have shown that candy(sugar) does not make a child "hyper"(which I am sure is what you are alluding to).
Doing blind tests using sugared candy and non sugared candy where the parents and the children ALL thought that the kids were getting sugared candy found no difference in behaviour between the 2 groups. What it did find is that parents and children alike that "thought" the candy would increase hyperactivity, or cause the kids to "climb the walls" invariably those children would demonstrate increased activity regardless of which group they were in.
What CAN cause increased hyperactivity in children is the dyes used in certain candies for children that show alergies to those dyes.
Not even that would work Anna. Well - it would probably work with two of the kids but three of them are allowed a cup of tea in the morning (lots of milk added) and those same three love Coke so they get enough caffeine that it wouldn't shake them up much unless I gave them a cup of Espresso. Out of the other two, the oldest is a little like me and can be quite anxious at times so I'd blow him right out of the water with a real cup of coffee. Any candy coated in chocolate has caffeine anyway. Not a lot but it's still there.Gerry, you are a party pooper. lol
Candy with caffeine in it should do the trick.![]()
Cadbury Crunchies. I didn't like those much as they tasted like burnt sugar to me.Ahh Gerry, - I know that too but - for some strange reason, my kids believe that sugar makes their kids hyper. Hi Charcoal,I remember when I was a kid going out 'halloweening'. When we got home, our mom would take any apples or homemade stuff out of our bags. She would make apple sauce and throw the rest away. btw, I am 52. So even back then there were people putting 'funky things' in halloween treats.
Sure. I think we have two bags left.AnnaG, Crispy crunchies are my favourite... can I have some?
Thanks... YUM!!!Sure. I think we have two bags left. Not one kid showed up, but then we are rural and the houses are far apart.
Well, you'd probably like my PB cookies. Not much difference between toast and PB except the cookies are sweeter.Hi Charcoal,
I guess most of us on here remember when all that trash started. Sad. It really ruined Halloween. Too many sicko's in this world.
Anna: I like the burnt taste of those little crunches. We used to buy them when we were kids but I think they were just called something like sugar sponges. They were not covered in chocolate then either. I used to like Crispy Crunch Bars but not too much anymore. There is nothing more gross than Peanut Butter Cups!!! Ugh! I like peanut butter and I like chocolate but not the two put into one. Peanut butter belongs in a sandwich. My girlfriend's Mom made some fudge and she gave some to me (years and years ago). I bit into it thinking it was a nice maple fudge and nearly tossed my cookies when I tasted the peanut butter. Another gross food. Her Mom could make Opera Roll like no one else could though.
I'm sure I would love your peanut butter cookies. Do they come with a nice large glass of milk for dunking?Well, you'd probably like my PB cookies. Not much difference between toast and PB except the cookies are sweeter.I agree about Reese's Pieces. I'll pass but Crispy Crunch are ok in minor amounts.
It's funny but in a rural area like here where most people have seen each other around if not know each other, you'd think there'd be a bit of trust. Oh well. I'm going to town Tuesday so I'll take what's left over and donate it to food bins.
