Has he gone on the witness protection program since becoming leader of his party? I haven't seen nor heard from him in months.

It's not just Dion, the whole Parliment has seemingly disappeared thanks to the conservative efforts to marginalize it as much as possible or even refuse to let it sit.

This is just a taste of things to come if Harper ever gets his majority.

that show is soo conservative it suks...you watch them make every guffaw and really bad move by harper into a not so bad thing....a liberal sneezes and it's proof of a scandal....

i am sure Dion is working the grass roots and hitting the streets and functions.....

you do realize liberals always have a french then english leader...this whole convention stuff is all smoke and mirrors....

I didn't hear much from him during the summer but that was because he spent quite a bit of time away from Ottawa in different parts of the country introducing himself to people. That garnered some local coverage, but not much on the national scene.

He is still doing that, he was in Edmonton this past week selling the idea that his environmental policies would only cost energy companies $1 per barrel of oil.

With Parliament set to resume I have seen much more of him lately in the national news.

If you were the Lieberals and your leader was Stephan Dion ... wound't you want to hide him too?

So Dion's incompetence is Harper's fault? I love how Lieberals think.

Dion seems to have no fizz in his soda thats why.
The fact to the he doesn't master the english language very well makes him look dim as a politician.
If he is a good one thats beyond me. Harper like him or hate him he's playing the game very well.
But that doesn't make him a good politician either .

Seems the image matters more , image gets votes. Substance and real issues are a side show.
We can do so much as a country but the fact we have clowns that seem more intent to blow their own car horn and cover their asses we will always go around in circles chasing our own asses.
Hey bit off topic but I went with it.

He is also incredibly unpopular in Quebec which doesn't say much about his French speaking abilities either. Makes be long for the days of the crystal clear ramblings of Jean Cretien. :)

It's possible that half of British Columbia has no idea who Dion is. The other half may have difficulty trying to pick him out of a police lineup.

I think Dion has been doing a fine job as opposition leader despite all the roadblocks thrown in his way by the sitting government. The conservative multi-million dollar attack campaign of an oppostition leader is unprecidented in this country and along with their manipulation of the media, withholding of crucial information on the Afghan mission and much more indicate a total lack of respect for our democractic system on the part of Harper. Don't forget the conservatives intentionally working to disrupt the functioning of our elected body when it was sitting and then refusing to let it sit.

I guess if you judge a leader by how much he does to screw up our political system then Dion would come in a distant second to Harper. The more I see of Dion the more I think he represents the real Canada.

Back up the manure truck we've got another load for Yah. Dion is doing good in Quebec considering the $billions the conservatives have spent there to buy votes.

This from a Conservative:

Dion is doing poorly in Quebec because he actualyy had the nerve to stand up to pur laine Quebecois and tell them they couldn't torpedo this nation without any regard for rule of law or democratic principle.

Good for Dion.

I am a hard-core right Conservative, card carrying Party member, and I'd rather have a drink in a bar with Dion than Harper............

Unfortunately, Dion is simply too left to run the country. His gun control policies are idiotic, his foreign policy is counter-productive to the aims and goals of us and our allies, his devotion to the idea of Kyoto borders on insanity.

Guess who is getting my vote?

Like I said, Dion has never had a fair shot to show what's he's capable of. The conservatives began a campaign to neutralize him from the moment he took over as Liberal leader. Not because they wanted to serve the people of Canada better, but because like everything else they do they want complete power in this country. Harper puts himself first and Canadians second.

Dion represents respect for the people of Canada to me, not the desire to rule us like Harper. He'll get my vote next election.

I saw him about a week ago, demanding we (as in Canada) assist Omar Khadar, a known, self confest terrorist, with not only ties to OBL, but was actually captured in combat against Allied NATO Forces.

On another note, you should hear Omar's sisters take on Canada...

I disagree, he puts the party before the country.

And if he gets in?

Great we can expect the buses of terrorists at the border as soon as he's sworn in I guess.

I wonder which terrorist organisation he'll nock of th elist first.

Being a supporter of terrorism and all eh, you just know he's up for it.

I disagree, he puts the party before the country.

I disagree with that also, Harper has concentrated more power in the PMO more than even Chretein did and has sidelined his ministers in favor of central control. He's also returned to the practice of vast funding in Quebec to buy support, that doesn't benefit his party which has its roots in the Reform movement here in the west.

If Dion gets in we'll get a Parliment that actually means something again instead of everything done behind the scenes like with the conservatives.

I doubt having Dion as PM is going to make us any more vulnerable to terrorism. Harpers policies in Afghanistan like turning prisoners over to a government that has tortured and even executed some of them gives terrorists motives to attack Canada.

Bear that post was absolute stupidity. You know it's not true or even close to being true. Calling Dion a supporter of terrorism is out and out slander. Dion is one of the most civilized politicians we have.
