I put it mainly down to bad anti-English refereeing decisions.
Of course you do. You're like Washington Redskins fans. Whenever they lose (a lot!), it's always:

The refs

The weather

A comet

Whatever

Anything, anything, ANYTHING but the other team played better.

Enjoy your victory, you delusional little Englander. You're further from reality than MHz, darkbeaver, and Danbones put together.

No, it's the refs. England would have won Euro 2004 - they were the best team in it - were it not for a shocking refereeing decision which wrongly cost us what would likely have been a winning goal against hosts Portugal in the Quarter Final, who themselves went on to win the match and went on to lose against surprise package Greece in the final.

And then there was that time in the 1998 World Cup against Argentina when Diego Simeone's outrageous play acting got David Beckham sent off, and the Argies went on to win as a result.

England have been incredibly unlucky over the years and have been the victims of too many absolutely shocking refereeing decisions.

Or they just choke when the going gets tight.

If that's the case, you can say that about every team in the tournament apart from the one that goes on to win it.

Spain, the winners of Euro 2008 and Euro 2012, bottled it yesterday when they lost 2-0 against Italy and were dumped out of the tournament.

That's one view. More realistic Engerlanders, however, see it a mite more clear. . .

It's true. England have just been incredibly unlucky over the years and, unlike those cheating Spanish and Italian and Argentinian bastards who cheat to win games, they play the game in the true nature of sportsmanship.

Incompetent braggartry is sportsmanship?

England could suck a golf ball through a garden hose.

Pathetic. England are a much better team than Iceland and yet, for reasons known only to themselves, they played like a pub side last night against a country the size of Leicester. Iceland, though, are very difficult to score against. They like to park the proverbial bus in front of their goal. They beat Austria in the Group Stage and I think France will find it tough against them in the Quarter Final.

Still, I'm glad England are out. I've been put through the wringer during four games they should easily have won and now I can just relax now for the rest of the tournament and look forward to the new league season.

Kelly: Losing to Iceland is a new low for England

I liked this bit:

"England fields some of the most recognizable players in the world. They make millions of dollars starring at some of the biggest clubs on Earth. Based on the evidence of Monday evening, many of them are frauds."
