Passenger on fatal Southwest Airlines crash live-streamed ‘sheer panic’ on flight

When they saw how upset the flight attendants were, “we thought we were in a really bad place. We were going down,” says man who live-streamed crash on Facebook.

When the plane engine blew up and the oxygen masks rained down, only one thought dominated Marty Martinez’s mind: sending a goodbye message to his parents.

“I had no reason to be hopeful,” Martinez said. People were screaming. A window was smashed out by engine debris. Even the flight attendants were crying. “So as the plane was going down, I whipped out my credit card and bought Wi-Fi.”

Martinez, 29, is the founder of a digital marketing company called Social Revolt in Dallas, and streaming live on Facebook comes naturally to him. “I thought that was my only avenue to get a message to the outside,” he recalled of those moments. He dialed up a Facebook connection, and only then did he put on his oxygen mask.

Makes sense. What did you expect, that he's storm into the cockpit, seize the controls, and with no training or experience as a pilot, land the plane safely?

The pilot was Captain Tammi Jo Shults, former Lieutenant Commander of the U.S. Navy, F/A-18 pilot. Getting Wi-Fi was the best thing you can do.

The Captain'll handle the rest.

They make you lift your pant legs.

I'm not 16 trying to smuggle booze into a Black Sabbath concert by crotching a baggie of single malt.

Still flying Air Canada, eh?

Here's to all of the knuckle walkers out there who don't yet believe that a woman can do everything that a man can do ... and often better.

They make you lift your pant legs.

You were pretty hard line ... smuggling Glenlivet into Ozzie Osbourne! Ever meet Hunter Thompson?
