One guy, you actaully expect the news to play a story about a cab driver that died. No one would watch and since news is about ratings not the actual news. One man that died for the better of many others is fine by me

but you are wrong
i do care what atrocities are committed in my name and with my tax dollars without my consent---
and I KNOW most canadians would --especially if they were presented with the actual images
its BECAUSE people do care that they are sheilded from it
because if we had the right information about matters such as these something trully terrifying to the corporate state might occur-- democrasy might break out

as a citizen of canada i want to know the following
how many people the canadian military has killed and injured over there-combatants and noncombatants- i want to know their ages -- i want to see a picture of their faces-
i want to know how many people the canadians have handed over to the US to be tortured-- and the details of that torture- i want THAT information presented to the public EVERYNIGHT on CBC for as long as it takes for people to get sick of what we are becoming involved in--etc
yes- i want it to be like nam

These are issues that might be discussed in our House of Commons, cortez. And if the Government of Canada continues to attempt to resist the House's demands for a discussion, then it would not be unlikely to see a motion come forth, from the New Democratic Party of Canada, the Liberal Party of Canada or the Bloc Québécois to determine whether or not the mission should be continued.

Goodluck iam sure they are jsut gonna tell us about every single person that dies over there. that would be a waste of time, and the media doesnt base there news of what cortez wants. its what the majority of people and no one wants a list of people and how, ect.

pfunks5, that is incorrect.

In Canada, 181 Members of Parliament belong to parties that wish to have a discussion and debate, and more disclosure of information pertaining to the effort in Afghanistan, out of 308 seats. Clearly a majority.

I think savage refers to the way in which these men were killed. If American soldiers showed such violence you would be screaming about it but if Iraqis torture and mutilate soldiers, it's apparently ok I guess.

Read about Mai Lai and Carey and crew you know Vietnam, what do people expect it,s war how can you murder people with dignity, no ones applauding these deaths, the manner of thier passing was no doubt horrible, buts that is the crime of war and we must not paint
all Iraqis with the same brush, they don,t murder any better or worse than any other people who engage in the stupidity of war and if you think it,s any more civilized to die by napalm then you're fools, or maybe you think smart bombs don't hurt women and children when thier blown from thier beds in the middle of sweet dreams.

I have read about Vietnam. I guess I just didn't see the moral of the story being it's ok to torture, beat and mutilate people if Americans have done it before.

When are we going to stop making excuses and start calling a spade a spade? This was a savage attack. Period.

A soldier is prepared to die. Now if he or she dies horribly it is something to be at the back of their mind that there is always a chance that their opposition will mutilate them to get the other forces from that nation out of their nation.

The act might be horrible, but when you are an invader or even a peacekeeper it could occur.

And if you feel that you should retaliate go right ahead that is just the way to make the violence continue. But go ahead.

P'rhaps I've no biz commenting on a thread I didn't have the stomach to read all the way through. Graphic descriptions of man's inhumanity to man paralyze me. I cannot in any way even begin to try and rationalize any of it.

"...an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind."
Martin Luther King

Yes, I abhor violence. And no, I'm not anywhere near being able to offer any kind of viable alternative. All I know is my very soul feels assaulted when I hear of this kind of behaviour taking place. Thank you God, I live in a country where this doesn't happen....

because..... if I'm brutally honest with myself, I know that if it was me living there - if someone caused any kind of harm, or even thratened any kind of harm to one of my children or loved ones, I'm not sure I could hold myself to my own moral beliefs... I guess even my own humanity is breakable. And maybe that makes me a hypocrite - I dunno, it's pretty easy to abhor something when I don't have to live in the conditions that foster hate, pain, fear, hopelessness, rage, vengeance, fanatacism.....
Maybe that's what's the saddest - that people people live - and die - in situations that force them to abandon the most precious aspect of life we can lay claim to... our humanity. :(
