should we be thankful they didn't taser him?

I still think that the real issue is not what the police did but why the daycare could not or would not handle the situation.

Also, we have no idea what the cops were told when they arrived at the scene. They probably had to make a decision reasonably quickly.

Toronto Police handcuff 9-year-old Autistic boy - YouTube!

The daycare abused her sons rights?

What about the rights of the other students?

This women is what is so wrong with society today.

A simpleminded byproduct of the mememe self help book generation.

I get what you mean, it's like trauma isn't actually trauma anymore. It's like the smallest thing is automatically labeled "a traumatic event". Part of the whole victimization of society I guess.

It still seems to me though like the staff simply threw the kid in the room by himself because they just didn't know what to do with him. Sounds like the daycare knew he was a special needs child and accepted him but didn't have the resources in place to deal with him. I still feel that 99.999 ad infinitum percent of the fault lies with the childcare facility.

Listening to the video, the mother is now upset that the daycare no longer wants to accept him as a 'student'. If I was the mother and I was upset about what happened, I would be making sure the kid does not go back.

IMHO, she comes off as an asshat. Who's sucking at the subsidy teat and doesn't want to stop.

The threatened lawsuit, is just another way to suck up some more tax payer cash.

The woman's a douche.

I trully hope the parents of all the other kids sue her for the trauma her son caused their children.

It could be just the way the Vancouver Sun wrote up the story but it seems like the police were not informed about either the Aspergers or the incident that led to the outburst until afterwards.

..."We later found out that he got into an argument with other students, was being teased," Kwong said. "What teachers say is that he became uncontrollable."

The boy was later found to have Asperger syndrome, a type of autism often characterized by difficulty in social interaction...

I'm also fairly certain the video had the rep from the school/daycare saying that they have a specialist on staff to deal with/advise on special needs. And that the school knew of the kids Aspergers and ADD.

If she's going to sue, why not sue the school?

I feel bad for the kid. Almost seems like no one is really looking out for him.

I have 23 grand children and some are easier to get along with than others. None of them has
ever been in a court room and some are homes with single mothers. I have never had to have
the police come and never have I had to resort to going this far down the line.
You have to think in the same fashion as the child and instill some discipline and when you do
handcuffs are not needed. What this kid needed was something but not handcuffs.
Still I wasn't there so knowing exactly what the situation was and commenting in stone would be
pure speculation.
The other side of the coin is we don't need an expensive investigation either. No I have to say
a preliminary report should be satisfactory and perhaps the kid needed to be restrained but I
speculate he did not need handcuffs. Police and those in charge of institutions think life is by the
book it is not there are other creative was to get results.

There are people you do call for cases like this but it's definetly not the cops. Cops should have forwarded the case to CPS.
