That may have changed in that time. That doesn't mean your current tap/well water needs to be 'as is'. If you can filter out salt you should be able to do the same at home and 'medicate' your own bottled water. Just add the appropriate warning label.

If that is a reference to gas coming out the taps why not tave the main water supply go to the highest point in the house and back down to the basement for normal plumbing design takes over. At the high-point put in a bladder that can hold a far amount of gas and when so much is collected it is used by the house as heating or lighting. Other chems would need that water filter that barely fits in the back of a pick-up.

The fracking gas collected (South Dakota I believe)these days is burned off in flare-stacks, if collected it could power a small city, the reason it isn't is there is no way to charge money for the product so it is 'hidden'
