Think of it as a status symbol Tracy, much like having a Gucci bag instead of a Walmart purse. It's all about R.E.S.P.E.C.T these days, and I've heard conservatives on more than one occaision complain that Canada doesn't have any respect internationally, anymore. In the long run, it's cheaper than starting a war with someone.

Maintenance is higher than production, but anyway, make sure you buy the ones that were targeting Canada during the cold war, the warheads might feel more at home.

We dont have the respect a G8 nation ought to have internationally, but its not because we don't have nukes. Its because of our foreign policy which is to mindlessly parade the UN and promote good values....many decision made in the past were attempts to spite the USA as to look as if we are independent internationally (small man syndrome) and make a name for ourselves.
Our foreign policy should be to protect Canadian interests abroad.....that would entail we learn what our interests are. Although I have to say I have much more hope foreign policy will change for the better under the Conservatives...it already has!

the chances that the states would become more-- latin --is real
but i dont think canada will ever become significantly more islamic-- at least not to the degree that it changes the central cultural structure of the country
