So, what's the name of a good book of short stories? Any genre; crime, mystery, good sci-fi.

Does anyone else prefer shorties over a full length novel? A plot develops, ends: the hero wins/loses. But, you still have 23 hours left in the day. Great.

If one googles the "list of short story authors" it will boggle you. About a mile long.

Anyone read any good ones lately?

G'day N'ugg :)

I'll have to admit that I've not read anything of the kind you're talking about for a long time...

Even though in years past, I read Sci-Fi anthologies like they were going out of style...

If indeed brevity is the soul of wit...those long tomes with lots of "flashbacks" and "memories" fail the grade...

Do you have a particular genre you drift toward or are your tastes relatively eclectic?

Maybe you would be interested in some of the old "chapter books". Basically a series written a few chapters at a time much like a collection of short stories.
I used to like oldies like Doc Savage, Louis LaMour, Parry Mason too. Pretty campy by any standard today but still a pretty good read. And not too long at all.
