In just a few quick movements, a Waterloo Regional Police officer disarmed and handcuffed a man with an axe at a bus stop in Kitchener, Ont., a dramatic confrontation caught on video.

Lynn BoNita posted the clip to Facebook on Tuesday, writing that the incident took place at 4:45 p.m. at a bus stop outside of Fairview Park Mall.

She described the man as “unstable” and said he was uttering threats at pedestrians before the officer arrived on the scene.

In the video, the officer approaches the man and they speak briefly before a struggle and the cop takes down the man with the axe.

Several bystanders helped the officer once she and the man were both down on the pavement. He can be heard cursing while being handcuffed, face down on the ground.

BoNita can be heard cheering, “She did a good job though … On her own!”

At the time of publication, the video had nearly 300,000 views.

CTV News reports the man was charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and resisting arrest.

She did her job exactly as we should all expect; unlike a cop who would have shot him 9 times and then tasered him a few times for brandishing a knife. This cop confronted a man with an axe and he's alive today because he encountered a level headed cop who obviously has backbone and courage.
