EagleSmack can be annoying, with constant repetition and the impossibility of getting a straight answer out of him most times. That just means he truly understands the nature of this board. He's not looking for deep, careful debate, as many of us sometimes do, because he knows it ain't gonna happen. Solid man. I'd drink with him, work with him, or fight with him.
I guess the difference is I'd do the same with Curious. Strikes me as solid. A bit temperamental at times, but hey, ain't we all?

I might be a dinosaur, but this is a disastrous decision. Men and women treat each other differently. The military brotherhood is based on unit cohesion and esprit. If you bring men and women together it brings in elements that are going to be divisive, competitive and distracting from the mission.
The gender integration of ships in the U.S. Navy and the other nations hasn't really worked well.. producing a sexual tension in already stressful situations. It's led to any number of discipline problems, including pregnancy and romantic rivalry.
And when it comes down to it, women have different psychological and physical traits that make them far less effective warriors than men. Women can be extremely useful in support roles, but the fighting is best left to men.

I respect your position, and you raise some good points. I disagree, but your position is well put.
I would ask this: are you given pause by the fact that all four veterans who have commented see this as a positive thing? I accept that you may not give much weight to what Curious Cdn and I have to say, but EagleSmack and Murph are also in favor.

You got that right. When two boys have a fight in the school yard, chances are they will emerge friends after they've beaten the tar out of each other. When two girls get into a fight, the fight ends when one of them leaves town. The biggest problem that we'll face from female military leadership is adhering to the Geneva Convention.
Vietnamese patriots would never have won if it had not been for the valor shown by female warriors in their fight against the Johnson/Nixon imperialistic terrorism.

Patriotism is never restricted by gender. Fighting is best left to those capable of fighting most effectively.
