Some of you may know, but today RUSH has released their newest album "Snakes & Arrows".
Well me and my buddy, north49guy went out today and bought the album, and along with that got some pretty sick t-shirts.

Well for those of you who have bought or heard some of the new stuff, what do you think?

In my opinion, its AMAZING, i love every song and the style is just fabulous. If you knew rush as long as i have and really familiarized yourself with their old stuff, they have really changed in their style of rock. I love the cd, and would rate it 10/10.

WHAT ABOUT YOU?

Well, if you gotta....Rush could offer to play a free concert on my front porch and I'd turn them down...Never could figure out what anybody liked about that band:)
To each his own I guess.

I did hear some of the new songs on the radio, just as boring as ever. i doubt the majority of the record buying public is going to care one way or the other. Rush is hardly that big outside of Canada.

Every group has changed their style because they haven’t done much in a long time and they can’t because they are old.

I was watching the drummer of rush on a science show and he was good but not as good when he was young.

A lot of old groups who were famous in the seventies are starting to do their geriatric tours.

I was on their web site http://www.rush.com and they will start their worldwide tour in June.

I will go in September and watch a great group but I know it will be a more subdued Rush not the Rush in their glory days.

I saw rush, the stones, and ACDC, and the Guess Who, a few years ago in Toronto and they were all amazing. In some ways bands improve as they get older because well they may not have the same stamina they become better at performing. You call it a geriatrics tour but I bet Mc Jagger is in better shape then you.

Rush was a favorite growing up ,then the got very into a "cause" I loved the were causing but I dont like the feel ,it must be hard when you have such a distinct voice as does LEE
Background

This Canadian trio, hailing from Toronto, is an influential progressive rock band. With 23 gold, 14 platinum and 3 multi-platinum albums awarded to them by the RIAA, Rush is a longstanding act. In fact, Rush is fifth in most consecutive Gold and Platinum albums, behind Kiss, Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles .

Starting out as a bar band in 1968, Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and then drummer John Rutsey were perhaps the hardest working unsigned act of the day. Refusing to conform and play top 40 material, they were determined to play what they wanted to play, and on their own terms.

In 1974, after the release of their self-titled debut, Neil Peart took over for John Rutsey and soon proved to be not only an amazing drummer, but also an excellent songwriter. His often epic compositions fit perfectly with the band's playing.

From their metal edged, sci-fi tinged material of the early to mid 70s, Rush were on their way to the top. It wasn't until their late 70's / early 80s material that the band broke through. Rush's 80's output was far more radio oriented than previous material, but no less strong. Then in the 90s, Rush made a return to the three piece unit sound of their early days.

While they have not had many radio hits, few hard rock fans have not heard of the band's bigger hits like "Working Man", "The Spirit of Radio" and of course the enigmatic "Tom Sawyer", which catapulted the band into the limelight in 1981.

Now in their fourth decade of making music together, the hard working men of Rush still continue to wow their audience, and even bring aboard some new fans. Last year the band released another DVD concert, filmed in Frankfurt, Germany on their 2004 30th Anniversary tour, Rush still shows no signs of stopping.

Rush's next album is scheduled for May 1st, 2007. It is to be called "Snakes and Arrows" with the first single "Far Cry" airing on radios and released on the internet on March 12th.http://www.last.fm/music/Rush/+wiki

TEMPERANCE, not only that you amaze me with your avatar , but your a fan of RUSH ahhhhhhhhhh
What can i say
Though the bigest thing after your informative post is Niel Pearts dramatic life experience. Losing a daughter and a wife in what......a year apart?.. He got back up on that horse and he's as strong as ever. Something to admire in that kind of character...hats off.

I'm interested in hearing it for sure, but I really am not a fan of the style of music RUSH has turned to in the last decade or two, I'm much more into the early, METAL stuff.
I'm sure there's a few tunes on Snakes and Arrows that I will like tho- usually the stuff that doesn't make singles is the stuff I like better

No matter, it's always cool when you're fave band releases new material (MANOWAR just released a new concept album- I thought about starting a thread about it but I figured it would not generate much interest) Glad some of you folks are diggin it!

Its true they have a style that resembles from one album to the next these last few. But I'm a die hard fan.
Seeming they are the only ones still together and the others being Led Zepplin and my favorite The Tea Party. My music interest ranges from Rage Against the machine to Gordeon Lightfoot.
And the older i get the more I love the classics.

definitely are up there. Rush is just simply an amazing band, and theres not much more to say. For the style they play, its amazing. I love tones of other bands, such as Acdc, Zepplin, ELO, and many more, but rush has just grown on me. And i am a very dedicated fan and always will be. :D
