History was made on Sunday, April 28, 2013, as Tampa Bay Lightning right wing Martin St. Louis became the oldest player in NHL history to win the scoring title.

St. Louis is 37 years old and in the midst of his 14th season in the National Hockey League. With a goal and an assist against the Florida Panthers on April 27, St. Louis pushed his scoring total to 60 points in 48 games played with 17 goals and 43 assists.

St. Louis barely edged out the likes of Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby, Washington Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin and fellow Lightning teammate Steven Stamkos.

its hard to believe that 'martin st. louie' was traded off from calgary many years ago, as he was too small.

well, he sure showed them, with the biggest heart, the greatest legs, and a fine play maker.

I was hoping he would hang on to that first place. I saw him live in vancouver some years ago, and

his ability at that time was second to none, along with lecavalier, they made quite a pair.

congratulations

Too true, talloola. He showed them in every way that counted and now will finally be rewarded, as well he should be.

While it is nice that he won (much preferable to Ovechkin), I honestly think that Crosby would have won it had he not missed all those games due to his broken jaw. It is amazing that St. Louis still has the skills he does even though he's "older" in hockey years. I'd love to have him on my team!

yeah, crosby would have won it for sure, BUT thats just the way it goes, injuries are such a big part
of a players career, and a teams woes.

Can't get points when you can't play.

And the amazing thing is that he had such a large lead that he ended up only losing by two points!

I'm really looking forward to this year's playoffs. Too bad that St. Louis wasn't on a playoff-bound team. He would certainly help them out with his veteran presence.
