Considering some of the implications that he was simply an odd sort of pimp, and that other people were involved, the idea of simply allowing the execution and thus silencing of Pickton, is somewhat disturbing.

Since your objections seem to be with the cost of the trial, are you suggesting avoid the trial and just execute him? How would you know if he was guilty or not?

Just because he's a scumbag, we still need to have a trial. As Karrie pointed out, there had to be other people involved, and there are an awful lot of missing women who we might find out more about as time goes on.

Let's face it - we wouldn't have needed such an elaborate trial if any of the police forces had bothered to take any of the missing women seriously, but since they were written off as unimportant, more and more kept disappearing, and it turned into a very complicated mess. I think there are quite a few police officers who should seriously consider their own part in this.

So, you don't think it's worthwhile to find out what actually happened?

I think we could have found out what happened for a lot less than a hundred and five million. In the Air India trial we convicted the guy who built the bomb but not the guy he built the bomb for. Sounds asinine to me.

If you want to put names to bones it's gonna cost you. Lab time alone can run between $150-200 an hour add some techs and supplies and it goes up higher to $500-750

Accuracy and dealing with that many bodies and digging through that much manure and all the fields around the Lower Mainland where the compost was sold.

Then once you have a name you have to start an investigation around that person and build a case strong enough to convict.

That is just for ONE....multiply the cost by 50 and you'll get $105M in a heartbeat.

There is an old country song by Tom T Hall years ago and they lyric went something like
Hang them all you get the guilty, hang they all you cannot miss, hang them all you get the
guilty, a lot of problems solved like this
The last line was disturbing, it mentioned the fact that eventually when they hang them all
they're going to hang you too.

Fact is we have laws to make sure in a society we get it right, and that means we also
have to pay the bill for justice served. Besides, I don't think Pickton did this alone because
he just isn't smart enough. I wonder who else was involved and if it turns out to be true and
society finds out the money will be worth it. Remember if we as a people ever get the power
to go about administering quick justice, without knowing all the facts and getting it right,
we will someday pay with the very democracy we cherish. I don't like spending that
kind of money but justice was served. If you or I are accused we at least have the law to
defend ourselves, something we would not have if we didn't spend the money and go by
the dictates and restrictions of the law to ensure fundamental justice.
