Because you keep following it up with trying to tell me why Ford is wrong, despite lacking what I keep telling you is how I would decide.

You've not once said 'I don't know', and left it at that.

He's kind of obsessive that way. Have some eggnog (extra rum) Karrie it dulls the senses, makes you less susceptible to beat your head off the counters.

It isn't just a label. It allows them to access more funding and resources.

It appears that the province is trying to work around Ford's stubbornness, but in a situation like this we really shouldn't have to be doing that.

Which funding and resources?

You're putting a pretty heavy spin on it considering you still can't answer that simple question.

I will just have my rum over ice, thanks M.

Lol, are you sure those toddlers are not rubbing off on you? You have asked the exact same question at least 10 times now. What do you expect is going to change?

I have clearly stated my point just as many times, but you just want to talk about your own thing. We have heard from actual experts in emergency management that said that making the declaration would give them access to more resources and funding. I have never claimed to know exactly what those are, but my knowledge of emergency management has nothing to do with the validity of the statements from the experts.

I'm just pointing out that you keep saying it's why he should make the decision you want, when you don't know why. You don't know what resources. You don't know what funding. You don't know if it's actually the right decision.

Again, I am commenting on his decision making, not pretending to know how to fix a cities electrical grid. You don't need in depth technical knowledge to recognize when someone needs help. I have zero medical knowledge but I know when someone needs to see a doctor.

If you live in Toronto the why is pretty easy to understand. The city is struggling. People are going to be spending Christmas in the dark. The timeline for getting everyone back on line keeps getting longer and longer while parts of the city still look like a war zone. Ford was presented with a way to get more help and he declined for what is seemingly only political reasons.

If Norm and Kathleen are able to find a way to work around him, that is great, but it still doesn't change the fact that his choice was wrong and selfish.

Why don't you try actually responding to what I am talking about instead of asking the same question that I have answered over and over and over again?

Rob Ford has confirmed that he was asked by city staff to declare a state of emergency so that they could access more resources, but that he refused to do so.

Following the changes that council made last month, the Deputy Mayor would assume control in a state of emergency. A slight problem they apparently couldn't address is that Ford is still the only one who can declare an emergency, and stepping aside during an emergency certainly isn't great for his reelection plans.

So, once again we have one mans ego pitted against the entire city of Toronto, and everyone else has to find a way to work around the stubborn blob.

That is absolutely contrary to the message I got in the news tonight!

Things are kind of tough when the only way a guy can denigrate someone is by commenting on his stature. Perhaps you should STFU!

Yes, physical stature has no connection to character, and those who would try to make a connection, themselves are of questionable character.

Which part?

Then I guess you should question Ford's character since he has stated numerous times recently that losing weight will solve all his problems.

Can't argue with that, obesity causes high blood pressure, diabetes and a multitude of other problems!

Which part?

The part where he stated that no longer how long it took he was going to be with the people of Toronto and was willing to give up Xmas Day.

Because you keep telling me it's about his decision making, without being able to provide the factors in that decision making. Plain and simple. I asked a question. You didn't and don't know the answer.

The part where he stated that no longer how long it took he was going to be with the people of Toronto and was willing to give up Xmas Day.

Nobody ever claimed he was bad at self promotion, but as usual his actions tell a different story.

The fact is, he refused to do everything in his power to help Toronto seemingly for his own political reasons. He has then continued to show why he shouldn't be in power, proudly stating that he hasn't talked to the premier or deputy mayor at all just one day after the storm hit.

He seems more concerned with promoting his brand than actually doing whatever it takes to help the city.

I clearly presented the factors in the decision making. His senior staff came to him and said they needed him to declare an emergency in order to get the resources that they needed. That is what he was faced with when he made his choice?

Judging his decision based on what others have been able to do in spite of him is not a credit to his choice.

From what I could gather from the news he has resources coming from as far away as Mantoba, Windsor and some from the U.S.

Toronto Hydro is organizing that, not Rob Ford, but you have again found another great example of his ability to self promote.

Toronto manager says 'not currently necessary' to declare state of emergency | CTV Toronto News

It's an unnecessary declaration according to the city manager, and fully within the capability of the province to declare it an emergency whether Ford likes it or not. But they haven't deemed it necessary.

As I said.....

Judging his decision based on what others have been able to do in spite of him is not a credit to his choice.

Ah, so if they say it's unnecessary to declare it, it's only because they're working around him, not because they are rational city managers, etc. Gotcha. lol.
