In Canada we basically have it pretty easy, no one is in danger of starvation or as far as that goes even extreme hunger. My generation has done alright, those of us who wanted to work had the chance. My only gripe is snot nosed brats who "beat" on seniors, who but for them we may not be where we are today.

Seniors can be bitches, luckily I'm not one for a few years yet. Put them and the orphans together and like them fight it out. Give the orphans the keys to the cupboards and tell them they can decide who gets the most food. **** together more in 10 months than the previous 10 decades for the old guys.
There's two groups of seniors those born before 1935 and those born since. Those born since don't know much about depressions or World wars. With a very few exceptions the years since 1950 have been "boom" years. But you can't blame or credit any of that on any demographic...............that is just childish and sniveling. You play the f**king hand you get dealt and shut up!
I knew it was time to leave industry when all I kept hearing was "LOOK Busy"...Quit 1 job, when supervisor said that...I yelled back at him, as I left, "I am tired Of LOOKING Busy!...I want to BE Busy!"

The door I went through most often said 'No Minors Allowed', different level entirely.
Growing cheese or hay, those are words you never want to hear.
Had a bit of a pleasant surprise here last Thursday. I had what I was afraid was a plumbing emergency on my hands (water everywhere) anyway it wasn't that bad. Two plumbers came over and worked for an hour or so and the bill was $126. Amidst all the complaining about tradesmen's rates these days I thought that was reasonable. Maybe it worked out to $30 an hour each and $60 for the company.
P.S. I have another job that needs doing and they will be doing it. Already got an estimate.
