Historically the lesser party in these kinds of 'deals' tend to suffer a great deal at the polls next election. That's true even if people approve of the deal overall in the meantime. And you can bet justin is counting on eating Jagger's lunch and stealing his voters if humanly possible to try to stave off a defeat next election.

I have to wonder if he cares. I think by next election he qualifies for his pension and i think he knows he's probably gone after that. I actually thought he put up a pretty decent campaign last time and nobody bit. Barring a miracle, he'll likely barely hold his seats next time and will more likely lose a few and that'll be three strikes. I feel like he wanted some sort of legacy project and/or guarantee that he'd make it at least to his pension eligibility.

But yeah - i don't think the ndp will look back on this deal as being something that advanced the party overall.
