I know quite a few people in NB from my last university in Fredericton. I met lots of cool people, and had a blast, maybe too much based on the permanent souveniers I have... The beer was more expensive, the hard liquor was cheaper. That is one liberal city overall, you have to expect that when a quarter of the cities population leaves every April, to return in September.

BUT, its definitely not as good as Nova Scotia. Or PEI.

to be frank..there is a problem attitude within N.B. that doesn't exist in the other Atlantic provinces...I don't know why but it's there...
Well NB is the most Racist Province in Canada, I rember reading in Macleans....haha...also apperantly the French there are the Most racist, and the Minority......

I think their problem attitude is, that like most of the western Provinces, they are like Saskathewan, very seldomly thought of. I dont think there has been to many New Burnswickers that have contributed much to National Idenity ethier.

They haven't showed up here yet either... Most racist...dunno, it's hard to beat Quebec on that front.

But i know that I have never been impressed with anything in N.B...and I have been all over it. Tourist board is a waste of time there, they miss out on every oportunity, just go to Hartford, you cross the covered bridge..then drive away...nothing else to do...no where else to go..nothing to see here. The st. John river...wonderful wide river in the north..not one boat, no marina's..no hotels, motels, fishing lodge..nadda

Then you arrive at N.S. and signage is everywhere telling you waht is off the bext exit and how far it is...even to the point of telling you if the bluenose is in port or away....

One of friends is from New Brunswick, she lived in a small French Town called Tabincintac (miss spell). We use to spend weekends there and when we went pub hopping you would go from French to English in a 3km radius. Everything was defined by French Catholic and English Prodestant, really she wasn't allowed to date an Anglo or a Prodestant. I found these small towns very backwards and bigoted towards each other. Lots of old hatred kept alive by their language.

I was wondering when you'd say something here Sassy :)

So now there's a distinct society eh? hehehe

It was twenty years ago so maybe parts of New Brunswick aren't as English versus French anymore. It is a lovely province, except for Edmonston shiver an ugly town.

Im from New Brunswick. I have better things to do than troll this forum everyday bashing on other peoples home provinces.

Yes theres places without high speed internet, yes theres dirty places. Can you honestly say theres none of that in Nova Scotia or Ontario? The answer is an obvious no.

My grandparents (85), parents (55), and I (21) are all computer literate. Hell theres barely anywhere I go today that doesnt have a computer. Fredericton offers free wifi internet throughout the city. Im sitting 20 kilometers west of Fredericton and I get wireless highspeed. Ive been in every major town/city in New Brunswick and they all have high speed internet.

Saint john is dirty, but its a blue collar industrial town. Its still a great city with awesome walking trails and a great market. Fredericton and moncton have great walking trail systems and very good city layouts. Miramichi is spread out, but still a fun town. I cant really say anything about the northern cities. Theyre nice but boring. Edmunston is probably one of the worst places to stay in NB. Theres really nothing there but blue collar and a smelly pulp mill. Dont base your opinion of NB off Edmunston and Hartland

Anywhere you go speaks english, and most speak french. Im bilingual myself but rarely use it. Only time ive been shot down about my french is Quebec.

Ottowabill, I have no idea what your talking about when it comes to tourism. No its not super exciting as its a lot of historical stuff, but you have to look around (which you obviously did not). Theres countless places to stay along the st john. Theres even a boat/canoe/kayak rental place a few kilometers down the road from my house. The st john isnt even one of the better rivers here.
The only piece of singage that comes to mind when you enter Nova Scotia is the giant "ABSOLUTELY NO HONEY BEES"

Anyway, I dont know enought about NS to open my mouth and spew crap, so thats the end of my post.

Personally, I like the Miramichi rivers better. When you take the ferry to St. John, and you see that colour change where the St. John river meets the ocean, and ocasionally the smell, blah.

hahaha!!! Finally defence of your province!! GOOD!!! Now we need to do that for our whole country instead of just it's parts!!

Yes I was just having a bit of fun...there is NO region (even Quebec) of Canada that I don't like. Sure I like some more then others but no one place I have a real problem with. I can't say that for the U.S. There are many places I just love in the U.S. but there are places that just make me shudder. We just don't have that problem here.

btw..no honey bees? whatsup with that?

In Nova Scotia we train honey bees to protect our boarder, it's cheaper than a Militia and the honey is an added benifit. My neighbour has a couple hundred hives of honey bees, he calls them his retirement fund. Personally I'd have my life insurance up todate those bees can get mighty mean when there traveling as a hive.
