I'm a rehabilitated Catholic too. Something about going to service with the same community of people and then having their true feelings about me, my familly and my morals shown for their true colours. It should be noted that I have met many understanding, compassionate and loving Christians, unfortunately that's not across the board for all Christians.

To Mary, I'm not sure why you would be so critical of someone elses spirituality, regardless of the form it takes. Theres something in the "feather wearing" spirituality that is lacking in most of the other religions, with perhaps the exception being Buddhism. That is a respect for all things, realizing the individual forms part of a symbiosis with all other earthly aspects, be they living or not.
I can not believe I almost wrote you off as lost. Though I never disputed your intelligence, which I will state again for the record, is quite vast, I must add that not only that, but you are alot more intouch with reality, then I originly gave you credit for. I stand corrected.

Heh, thanks Bear, you're no dud yourself. Sometimes on these boards you only get to see small snipets of peoples personality in the different threads. It always seems like certain threads tend to highlight our personalities moreso than others, most religious topics especially.

this sentence reads in my mind as "i'm an ignorant fool"

Jesus loves Satanists as well as I do. If I am to be like Christ, I am to love like Christ.

Salvation is to all who would have it.

I'd counsel to take Him up on it, regardless of what "Church", non-church, believer or non-believer.

The love of Christ for us is unconditional. We are the ones who set the conditions, thereby we are the ones who are missing out.
Here we are fighting like little children over trivial issues that make for nothing but resentments.

My church, your church, nobody's church, believer, non-believer, this club, that club?

Brothers and sisters, think about it for a moment, analyze what is going on here!

Let us learn from each other to love each other despite our differences. That is the key, that is what God is, that is what God wants, for us to be conformed to His image.

That image is not hands and feet, eyes and ears, but love.

To love as He loves is the image.

TOTALLY missed the issue.

My point was that pagan=satanist is a false assumption.

God loves pot heads too!

Listen, once God touches your hearts, He changes your attitude towards the things which bind you and works in you to become victorious over them.

He cleans from the inside out, not from the outside in.

Come as you are, no need for and change of clothing, habits or anything.

He welcomes you all with open arms and will help you with any hang-ups you might have.

Don't you know that Jesus experienced all those things we experience? That is why He is the man!

The man God, who sits between heaven and earth to open up the flood gates of blessing, if, if, we but only come to Him for help.

You are just as bad as what you complain about. you seem to have an intolerance towards anyone who disagrees with you, suggesting you think you are always right. Sometimes, just sometimes,, it is highly possible that others may be right! And no matter how many half naked dances you do around a fire, or how many feathers you pop in your head, it is conceivable you may be wrong from time to time.

The last sentence was definitely overboard. No very Christian.

DD, I wonder how many of us ex Catholics there actually are, I suspect, but I could be wrong, that we may actually double the amount of practicing

I have been an ex Catholic for some time, ever since I went to Spain in 1970 and saw as well as read of some of the things the Church did there. What they did here in Canada is not any better. Until the day that the Church can teach according the Jesus Christ with love, tolerence and respect for all I will remain an ex, and I know that my God will never condem me for it.

BEAR
Have been doing a lot of reading on the sites you gave me, very interesting. Later on I might have some questions for you on a few points that I am confused. Thanks again.

As with anyone Sparrow, all you have to do is ask, I will honestly answer any serious questions from anyone. Just PM me and ask away Sparrow.

Because Christ founded a Church, not the Churches. That Church was the Catholic church.

I understand you feel he FOUNDED that church, but he hasn't RUN it in a long time. Men have and those men are fallible as evidenced by their many poor choices over the years (do we really even need to specifically mention the horrible acts of certain priests?). If those running the church are fallible, then it's hard for someone who hasn't been raised to believe their every word to suddenly do so. It makes no sense for us because the only argument that believers can give us is "because the church said so" or "because it's what I believe". Those reasons are ok for them, but I don't see how they can expect it to be enough for a non-catholic to convert to catholicism.
