Researchers develop way to 'reliably' send brain-to-brain messages

American researchers can now reliably send a message from one person's brain to another's to control the second person's hands.
Scientists at the University of Washington have created a system for a direct brain-to-brain connection. The team had initial success with the experiment in August 2013.
"Now we have replicated our methods and know that they can work reliably with walk-in participants," study co-author Andrea Stocco said in a release.
The researchers used two kinds of non-invasive instruments and software to connect the brains.
One participant is hooked to an electroencephalography machine, which reads brain activity and sends electrical pulses over the Internet to the second participant, who is wearing a swim cap with a transcranial magnetic stimulation coil placed near the part of the brain that controls hand movements. The first person can then command hand movement in the second person just by thinking about it.
The study has been published in the journal PLOS ONE.

A SF movie was made on this subject that showed how a similar technology would, or could, be perverted by the CIA. can't remember the name but it was Natalie Woods last movie.

She drowned during the production & they had to shoot a look- alike etc.

Either way, the horrible things the government could do with this were quite depressing.

My wife reads my mind already, thank you!

I can do the same thing/have been able to since I was a kid; I pass a message through my vocal chords and it's decoded in the other person's brain at which point their hand smacks me in the head.

I bet anyone here could do it with a little practice.

I am sure this method works fine but many communications with the other person will read.....nobody home.

Jung's Collective Unconsciousness and he believed we inherited the trait and that it was passed down

there is an evolutionary benefit to it and it links all of mankind

Except of course that their is no evidence at all that such a thing exists.

If it does exist, millenia of human history proves that it doesn't work.worth a damn.

Please explain the 'evolutionary benefit'.

Please explain any 'evolutionary benefits'.

Thank you.

Well it's a bit early to abandone the search or condemn it as wasteing time.

Our continued existance could be taken as evidence that it does work.

Please explain the 'evolutionary benefit'.

The sum of human experiance is not lost and remains accessable.

This is both awesome and terrifying. It would be so f'n weird to have your hand moved by somebody else's brain.

In fact our experience ahows that it has never worked. We have technology but around the world our species acts like mindless psychopaths. We rape, kill, practice genocide, ethnic ckeansing, exactly as our remote ancestors did, with the sole digpfference that we use technology to kill more of the people we hate.

Saying we haven't had time yet to disprove some kind of racial consciousness is fine, but homo sapiens was around for a long time before city states evolved around 5000 years ago. We have had plenty time to evolve such a sense. And how is it transmitted? Cranial radio? Supernatural doowah? The world needs to know..

So, once again, where is your evidence? Dogmaticcaly asserting facts that are contrary to our species evidence doesn't work no matter how warm & cuddly it sounds,

Yes it would seem that way from our modern perspective but at many times in the past there were long periods of peace and plenty. The human condition is the human condition meaning we will always be at war with someone or something for the simple reason resistance promotes change.

At various times in the past very different belief and practices produced very many engineering works that still defy replication, they also producted logic and science, it is a certainty that mankind has developed to very high civilizations many times in the remote past.

So, once again, where is your evidence? Dogmaticcaly asserting facts that are contrary to our species evidence doesn't work no matter how warm & cuddly it sounds

, My evidence is this conversation.

----At various times in the past very different belief and practices produced very many engineering works that still defy replication----

Rubbish. You have been watching too much bad TV. Their are no such lost technologies.

How do I edit my posts?
Tx

[what makes me one of your declared "alarmists"? Specifically... do you have the 'gyrene balls' to actually converse on the subject?[

If you care to translate your question into English, I would love to answer.

BTW If you consider CO2 to be a pollutant, don't bother. I don't debate children.

Did it work? I read earlier this evening that there are not enough synapses in the meaty brain to hold the average humans memory. We have external hard drives. The mind is the patch of a field commonly called
space that the bodies mind can read and write to it touches all the other fields, you are what you eat, food generates mind. Our bodies are just there to hold up our ears and eyes.

Don't know where you got that about our brains. Silly.

But if you want to believe this stuff it is basically supernatural and no one can refute such religious beliefs.

It's basic electrical theory. There's nothing supernatural about it. All sorts of critters use the fields to navigate, to acess food availability and direction, water has a frequency, the animals haven't ditched there sences for reason, we have.

Nonsense. Many birds and a few other creatures have particles of magnetite in their systems that react to the planets magnetic field. Their are no mysterious fields linking us.

The kind of New Age mysticism was big in the Sixties. It was all silliness and faded away. Or so I thought.

I was wrong. Cloud cuckoo land seems to still be with us.

Sorry but I don't do mysticism.😃

My freakin' posts keep disappearing. Screw this.
