Under the bridge...

Careful now, noticing the obvious will have some leftie calling you a troll.

Why doesn't Jack invite "Gadaffi" in for a meeting?

Some say it best to let sleeping dogs lie. Personally I like to poke them with a stick and run. Martin, Gadaffi, and Layton should all have a tea party. There's a photo-op.

I like trolls, they're comfortable with their scuminess.

I like to hit them with missiles from the sky and let the left in Canada defend them after their dead.

Did'ja ever notice that when the politicians and news people talk about global warming, they NEVER say the phrase "reduce our FOSSIL FUELS emissions" ?

Thats because they want to take the heat off the real offender in global warming, FOSSIL FUELS and the corporations that sell them. Instead, they might say "pollution", or "emissions that cause global warming".

"Reduce our use of FOSSIL FUELS" must become the key phrase if we are to combat the worst effects of global warming.

Even at this late stage where we can no longer avoid serious consequences from the sudden climate shift caused by the sudden eruption of fossil fuels emissions [from burning fossil fuels] our politicans are bowing to their financial base [Harper, oil corporations] and are doing things like averting our attention to SMOG, or out of the blue, Nationhood status for Quebec.

How cynical to be doing that when Quebecers themselves say global warming is more important than their 'unique identity' crisis.

not in Kansas anymore
To be fair, Kyoto was only ratified in 2002. During the Liberal minority they tried things like making greenhouse gases a controllable substance, which was handilly voted down. They did get automakers to committ to producing cars with better emission standards, thats a 5.3 megatonnes cut by 2010. Granted not much has happened, but I don't see anything happening with this act until 2010, and that is assuming the Conservatives still are the governing party.
Not true, they had the automakers agree to voluntary controls. How did that work out? The conservatives want mandatory limits. Much better. Can anyone out there explain how buying carbon credits from other countries (KYOTO) will clean up the enviroment?

Everything I said still fits voluntary, I don't see the problem with what I said. I really don't know how the emissions have changed since then. If the Harper government makes the auto industry targets mandatory that's great. The conservatives haven't made anything mandatory yet, with nothing hard until 2020, until then it's all "intensity" which is laughable.

I agree, "intensity" is a dodge, and so is trading carbon credits. What has to happen is to reduce fossil fuels emissions.

In that regard, I would worry about any of the initiatives that tinker around with making fossil fuels burn cleaner. Its not a bad thing in itself, but what many people see is a shift to other energy sources so we have got to start setting that infrastructure up. Not just one of them either, but several choices for fuels at a string of service stations. That would get many people to convert to electric cars, biodiesel, hydrogen, natural gas, etc etc.

We MUST get automakers to startproducing more hybrids etc - there is a waiting list of buyers for them, so it makes good economiv sense, its just the oil interests that tell them not too - this can be overcome somehow, with laws maybe? How do we tell the people to lay off ?

California/Oregon is setting up a highway corridor with some re-fueling for alternative fuels, and it is now possible to buy bio diesel at stations as you drive across the USA.

If GM want to remain competitive in the future, and I mean more so than now, they should try to release their hydrogen vehicles before 2011. Honda and BMW will both have hydrogen vehicles coming out which are a huge step above existing hydrogen fuel celled vehicles sold by Honda in Asia.

Shell is partnered with GM for the refueling stations and the hydrogen fuel celled vehicles. Hondas version allows you to create your own hydrogen from your existing natural gas hook-up, and can supply your house with electricity. This generator can reduce a households total emission footprint in regards to CO2 by 20%. This will be released in 2008, a full three years ahead of GM who has not even built an HFC vehicle.

Thats great news Tonington. Thanks for that.

I will still complain - there was no reason that ALL of those upcoming improvements for alternative fuels for vehicles could not have been set up allready, even afew yearsago, when it would have done a lot more good.
We need to hurry up - every day we continue at this 'emissions level' will cost us much more than taking actions now.

Here is a link to Al Gore interview ["his Adequacy"]
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/11/061127-al-gore.html

He says it is not too late to stop this crisis, but that is just so we don't get all hopeless and do nothing. The crisis WILL hit us hard, but if we do nothing at all about our fossil fuels emissions and methane emissions it will be much more than just "a crisis".

Dion echoes CanCon "ridiculous" phrase

Dec 14 2006
Today in a news conferance, Stephane Dion, the new Liberal Party Leader, used a phrase that he no doubt read right here at our little forum :
"Canada was RIDICULOUS at Nairobi" [at the UN climate conferance held there recently].

HA!! and to think I coined that phrase "Rambrose was Ridiculous" in the title to this thread.
- or did I read it somewhere?

Now if the House would start calling Ms.Ambrose "Rambrose" [as in Rambo of the climate change deniers, or Rambling Rose as in an old tired song], I might think I was onto something.
