RAF bombs Houthis in Yemen

The British have joined their American allies by bombing the Houthis in Yemen.

RAF Typhoon fighters carrying Paveway IV missiles have carried out the strikes.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer today told the Commons and the country that RAF fighters were alongside USAF fighters as they targeted the Houthis, responsible for attacks on merchant shipping in the Red Sea.

Starmer declared that the United States and Great Britain want to preserve freedom of navigation within the Red Sea.

I think it's become the traditional job for the last 80 years or so for the USA and Britain to join together every so often to get rid of the bad guys in the world. It always seems to be America and Britain. We're like policemen. Seems like nobody else gives a fuck. Or they just don't have the military capabilities.

You Yanks and we Brits have our banter but together we sort out the planet's shit.

I'm a former Royal Navy Operator Mechanic. I regret leaving so soon. Driving man-ups and forklifts in a warehouse doesn't have the same enjoyment and romanticism as seeing the world on a ship with my mates did.

I could never do what the RAF guys do, though. You have to have a special sort of bravery to fly the high-speed jets we have nowadays.

I could never do what the RAF guys do, though. You have to have a special sort of bravery to fly the high-speed jets we have nowadays.

Closest I ever came was getting a "check ride" in the backseat of an F-15 because I was our unit's "Airman of the Month." I didn't quite piss myself, but I was a bit wobbly in the knees walking away from it.

It's a point of pride for me that I didn't need the barf bag. Which is weird, because I get seasick so easily I managed to get seasick on an aircraft carrier. But even violent aerobatics don't bother me at all.

Falling off the deck to avoid embarrassment. Ever seen an aircraft carrier? Shit doesn't fall off when cornering. It takes a week to turn one around.
