Raclette
I brought one home from Germany and it had the metal top - later switched to a stone top and the difference is amazing -
Do not buy the grill with the metal top -
What is great about the Raclette is you can have a great meal with your partner - girl-boyfriend - significant other -
I also have a stone top grill and it to makes a delicious meal.
Points to consider
Choose the 8 serving, rectangular trays - great for 2 couples - 4 people -
I do not make the typical Swiss Raclette but here is what I do when preparing for a meal with friends.
Cheese - Important -Critical to the meal - I get mine in Little Italy in Edmonton - I use a variety of cheeses sliced -Provolone- Gruyere smoked- Havarti
You can taste and try to see what you tastes are
Sliced meats - again from the Italian deli
A little of a wide variety goes a long way -
Veggies -Red, yellow or orange peppers as they are sweeterOnion - The red type
Spices - hot to mild -- Pepper - whatever you wish - etc
Bread - Heavy breads that your mother used to make - sliced thinly
You will have to cut the bred at home so it will fit the tray.
Potatoes - small - white - You can boil small potatoes or use the microwave - Sour cream
Preheat the stone - Not to high as you want this meal to be slow, entertaining and filled with conversation
Oil all trays lightly to prevent sticking
Prepare one tray with the bread and add cheese and your toppings prepare the second tray with cheese for melting
When it is ready, open you hot potato, add butter, slide the melted cheese on top and add sour cream.
Take out you sliced bread and topping - start another 2 - and continue on.
Stone top - use this for chopped tenderloin, pork, chicken, or different seafood's - scallops - shrimp etc.
