Oh brother. Is there not one traditional event that won't be touched by the PC crowd?

There's a few people on this forum that like to throw the word "racist" around. I wonder what they think of this.
You already told us what you think, in the OP. I don't know anyone else around here that just throws it around.

Remember some religious groups are offended by Halloween itself.
No I think these things can be done with taste and not be offensive.
We have to get back to being human again soon, we collectively have
no sense of humor anymore. I think if people are conscious of others
we know what is offensive and what is not.
Halloween is a time of fun and imagination and was never designed to
reflect a hate message. I suppose its time for the politically correct
folks to grow up.

I love the CBC primer on what's racist or not.

If people want to be racist, let them be racist. If you want to be dumb enough to dress like the KKK, then go for it.

The natural repercussions will follow, but we don't need to be (or at least I don't need to be) lectured by the media on what's racist or not. I'm sure we'll all find out who's touchy about what through our own experiences.
When it comes to Halloween, I'm touchy about a few things. Like: razor blades in apples, drugs in chocolate bars, and I'm sure others have other things they too are touchy about.
It used to be a lot of fun and such a real "goody" night. Homemade popcorn balls, candied apples, fudge, puffed wheat squares, and on and on. Now parents have to check everything before their kids can eat it. Homemade is a No No.
Years ago in the Okanagan, we had friends whose little little kids were given razor blade apples somewhere along their route. That's a far worse situation than a chosen costume for a night. One of my granddaughters is going as a Hippie! She thinks it's a big deal. Is she discriminating by dressing like that? We used to take soot from the lid of the kitchen stove and rub it on our face to look like dirty hoboes. Ha - might not have been hoboes but we were dirty!!!

These days the needles are on the street and the kids are at some community thing down at the big indoor soocer pitch were they hold the tractor ballet.
