Ocean breeze ?

Abraham Lincoln?

You quoted a man who's original nickname was "Spotty Lincoln," when he was in Congress. He kept saying over and over, "Show me the SPOT where American soil was invaded?" At that time Texas was still the Lone Star Republic and was not part of the United States. "Show me the spot where American soil was attacked?"

And thus did a man who knew when war MUST be fought argued against the war on Mexico in 1845.

You quoted a man who knew when.

In that regard, this world, shows no leader like that today. This world will not defy a Saddam or a Kim.

It will never throw an ultimatim at Milosovec.

By the way two days ago the Serbian citizens saw non-stop videos of the Serbian Scorpio militia executing Muslim after muslim, and non-stop new of the massacre of 8000 muslims in Svreblence (sp?).

We hold the United States to a higher standard, but we apparently hold no one else even to A STANDARD.

The world would not be irritated if Saddam still ran Iraq and would be no more the wiser. Same goes for letting Milosovec continue. Same goes for Kim.

It's highly fascinating, because the world thinks it's worse now that Saddam is gone. Truly a fascination to behold.

Often we have no idea what greater danger we avoided because we are full of the headlines of the danger we chose to have.

Moral accountants, like their narrow counting money cousins, see everything in the NOW, not what was avoided or saved, not what the bad future could be.

It does not compute.

Iraq was always both.

UN resolutions defied. Embargo defied. Wanting to lift the embargo. Kicking out arms inspectors in 1998. No fly zones for 10 years. Ethnic cleansing done by forcing population movement and also by massacre. The nazi state of encouraging children to turn in their parents.
The rewarding of Palestinian parents losing their children to martyrdom. Comments by Saddam that the mistake in the first Gulf War was not to have a nuclear bomb. Read Kim's tutorial. By the way, these types want one even if America were to disappear tommorrow.

And so the whole gamut was done, the dragging of the feet, the rush to judgement, and just about anything you can think of was tried.

And so if you told me not to call you names and I continued to flout that rule, you would find it wise to ban me and say it's my fault that I got banned.

See any parallels there?

It never was either/or, it was all of it.

Where you get one 'OR' is if you really know for sure that the continuance of Saddam for another 10 years might have delayed a chance of a huge change in the Middle East.

We had to see Arafat die to see a possibility.
And so Abu Mazen, whose name means the father of his first son, Mazen, has understood how Arafat shot down a whole generation of his own people.

Children will hurt themselves to get what they want.
An adult will prefer not to shoot himself in the foot to get what he/she wants.

Has the intellectual elite forgotten this?

And so if you told me not to call you names and I continued to flout that rule, you would find it wise to ban me and say it's my fault that I got banned.

Any parallels?

I'll bet you even the dictators and thugs learned this from Saddam's lost gamble.

RE: QUESTIONS NO ONE CAN

Another dictator will be along in a minute, Jimmy. Let's call him George, just for fun.

You and your country have not looked for other possibilities or other answers. You used to, but that fell out of fashion with your political and corporate elite. They prefer greed instead. So they invaded a country to gain control of the oil.

You buy into their lies and talk about how it was necessary. You seek to justify the 100,000 Iraqis killed in this war by pointing at Saddam and screaming, "Monster," but you refuse to acknowledge that if he is a monster your government is Dr. Frankenstein.

You place yourselves above the law, above common sense itself, to feed your own greed. Meanwhile you've made a huge mess that you don't even know how to begin cleaning up.

The blood is on your hands, Jim.

The selective nature of your outrage makes your morality play just one show among many plays currently playing at theatres near you and all around the planet.

You hold the United States to a higher standard and hold no others to even A STANDARD.

Perhaps you did not see the carrot and the stick play out before the war?

Perhaps you see only one person's greed and not another's ??

You are betting that your morality play is the only show in town ???

indeed.

Jim. seems you have forgotten that SH was your "pal" for a while........as long as it suited the US.

seems the spin cycle has made you a tad dizzy. Remember bush the lying hypocrit said he was "not into regime change"......so that makes removing SH arguement ....null and void. The "rationale " given for this invasion was WMD and the THREAT They POSED TO THE US and the world at large.

believe me jim.......IF SH has such a supply of weaponry.....the US would NOT have invaded. Even to an insane leader like bush.....the cost/risk would have been too high. The only nations that the US will invade , are those that have something the US wants......and are not able to truly defend themselves. against the "military " might of the US.

bush can threaten N.Korea all he wants.....but to actually invade it .......is another story. The destruction would be horrendous and the world knows this.

Why do you think the arrogant fools in Washington thought this would be a "cakewalk"???? They had to have a pretty good idea of the weapons , capability Iraq had. What they did not plan for (in their eagerness for WAR) is the degree of insurgency. Heck , they did not even factor in the consideration that by destabilizing Iraq .....they were creating an environment for terrorists to gravitate to. Arrogance and tunnel vision. "staying the course" can be a blind process.
